MEET MANGLED MASCOTS

Keith Gober was born and raised in Tennessee. Growing up with dogs, it was a normal part of life to include his furry best friends in everything he did. From playing outside, to taking family summer road trips, to wrestling in the living room. And it’s a tradition that has carried over into his own family life.

Today, his family dog, Lucy, goes with them everywhere and was the inspiration for creating Mangled Mascots. They enjoy spending time with her and watching her tear and mangle the squeakers out of her chew toys. Being the competitive family that they are, Keith wanted to find a toy with a sports mascot on it that Lucy could go to town on and shred to pieces. He went to a well-known pet store and as he was walking down the toy aisle, he was shocked that he didn’t find it. There wasn’t a single product on the market that catered to sports fans and dog lovers.

That sparked the idea! Keith bought the materials, found a squeaker from one of Lucy’s other toys, stuffed it, and sewed it. The home-made mascot was now ready for Lucy to do her worst. The moment of truth came and Lucy gave her seal of approval—she completely tore it up! Watching her tear into a rival team’s mascot put a huge smile on Keith’s face! He knew he had discovered something special that the majority of dog-loving families would enjoy as much as he did and help them bond with their pets even more.

Keith spoke with his wife, Robin, about this idea and both of them felt like this was an incredible opportunity. They immediately called their friend and now business partner, Alex Dowdy, and the three of them decided they were going to close that gap in the market and provide a product that sports fanatics and dog lovers could enjoy on Game Day. Mangled Mascots is passionate about building a company and pet toy brand that encourages pet owners to include their furry teammates in with the competitive team moments of any sports season.
