My beautiful Lichen, the last of our rescue Poodles, found her forever home! She found a couple that matches her energy perfectly, and will share her space with two kitty siblings! I am so excited for her to start this new adventure. 💖💖
5 months ago I was contacted by a good friend, who cleans houses full time. She discovered 5 matted, starving, terrified Poodles in the barn of a woman with dementia. The last photo shows Lichen in the middle between two of the other Poodles she was found with. I immediately got them to the vet, got them on daily ear medication for their ear infections, antibiotics for swollen lymphnodes, dewormer and flea meds. With the help of Patti from Valhalla Rescue in Winlock, 3 of the 5 poodles found foster homes, and I kept Lichen and one of the males, Barkies! I gave Barkies and Lichen endless new positive experiences, taught them how to take a treat from a hand, sit, recall to their names, and got them both spayed/neutered! They both came out of their shells, then realized they are people lovers, and cuddle bugs! Barkies found his forever home a few weeks ago with a trusted member of our community, and now Lichen is off to a happy life in Seattle!
Breeding high quality dogs is an amazing way to make our mark on the community by providing healthy dogs that support their owners through deep emotional connections. However, breeders and rescues do not need to be bent against each other. Socializing, desensitizing, and training skills are extremely important for puppies and rescue dogs alike!
I am so happy to have been a part of these sweet dogs journey to finding their forever homes! That being said, rescues expend so much time and resources to give pups the chance at a happy life, if you would like to donate to the continued support of the other three foster Poodles, Valhalla Rescue ensures every penny is dedicated to their continued vetting and rehabilitation!
