Y’all…. It’s been a hot minute, so let me do a little reintroduction! I’m Kayla Derouineau, owner and practitioner of KD Desert Equine. I work on horses, dogs, and people with several different forms of therapy, including massage, red light therapy, nebulizer, and Equitape treatments! For anyone not familiar with Equitape, it is a specialized form of kinesiology tape that is designed for horse hair and to work with the physiology and movement of the horse. It utilizes different stretches and taping methods to create stability, muscle relaxation, muscle contraction, support, etc. for individual needs! I am a Tarleton graduate with a Bachelor’s and Masters in Animal Science, and have owned my own business for almost 2 years now. My equine clients include western and English disciplines, and I work with the owners to make sure we focusing on what each individual animal (and person) needs! Thank you to my clients that have stuck with me since the start, and I hope to see many new faces as we continue on this journey! ❤️

This is the least gruesome photo of his leg 😅, but the laceration is healing nicely with the help of come circulation tapings! And as shown in the second photo, Equi-tape has also been a huge help in keeping bandages on his leg in the early healing stages (with padding in between the wound and the tape of course!)

Gemma has been a critical part of owner’s life for a long time, so it was extremely exciting and rewarding to share these tapings with her family so they can keep her comfortable and happy!

Gemma has some issues with her left front leg that have become more prominent recently; specifically with her knee and fetlock. She is sporting a knee/carpus support, a level 2 fetlock support, and a pregnant mare support taping.

Excited to share how she is feeling as her due date approaches 🩵🩷🩵

My paint mare is definitely not a happy camper when she’s in heat 😵‍💫😅 hormones a flowing and general discomfort takes it’s toll, but this taping has been a game changer for her and others like her! Love this taping and how effective it is! ❤️🖤❤️

Did y’all know Equi-tape has a specific taping for abscesses? 😱

Not only does it provide extra channels for blood flow to help with healing, but it also provides
-reduced pressure
-reduce pain
-speed up healing
AND you can keep it on to use with other methods like soaking, poulticing, cold hosing, etc….

If you ask me, that’s pretty incredible! 🩷

My clients are my “why”… why I do the long days. Why I fight my anxiety on the worst days. Why I keep pushing on even when it seems like I’m just getting no where… seeing them work and perform with their horses feeling their best… that’s why I do this job.
