Do not train your dog to just be "good enough". Dogs are too capable; too brilliant to not be challenged, so help them reach their full potential! It's up to you.

Recognizing signs of anxiety is the first step to helping your dog. Have you noticed any or all of the following behaviors?
- Excessive panting or drooling
- Pacing or restlessness
- Excessive barking or whimpering
- Trembling or shaking
- Avoidant behavior or hiding
- Destructive chewing or digging
- Loss of appetite

If you've ruled out lack of exercise, your dog may be experiencing anxiety and fearfulness.
But here's the good news: just like humans, dogs can learn confidence!
Select training packages at Dog Training Elite Shreveport include the option to train your dog to be calm, less reactive and more confident. Ask for a free in-home training demo for more details.

Imagine you and your dog are headed to the base of a beautiful mountain—one you've anticipated hiking together for years. You park along a dirt road and the air is filled with the scent of pine; the sound of wildlife is all around you. You open the door and as you get out of the car, your dog sits patiently, completely focused on you and your cues.
This is a leash-optional trail, and you're thrilled that you put in the work to train for a reliable and consistent recall. You know if you encounter any dangerous wildlife, your dog will obey your command to "leave it". Other hikers won't have to worry about being jumped on or barked at because that too has been trained, and your dog has even passed the Canine Good Citizen test.
You enjoy a blissful 4-mile hike without any issues and are deeply grateful for the work you put into having such an elite companion.

When you're head-over-heels for your dog, it's natural to want more of that love. Having multiple dogs definitely has its pros and cons, and it's important to carefully consider how this choice could affect you and your current dog.
THE PROs
1. Companionship: A second dog can provide additional companionship for both you and your existing dog. They can keep each other company, reducing feelings of loneliness.
2. Increased Activity: With two dogs, there's more opportunity for play and exercise. They can engage in activities together, keeping each other active and healthy.
3. Socialization Benefits: Having two dogs can enhance socialization skills, as they learn to interact with each other and potentially with other dogs more effectively.
THE CONs
1. Financial Costs: Adding a second dog means additional expenses for food, veterinary care, grooming, and other supplies. It's important to consider the financial commitment involved.
2. Time and Attention: Caring for two dogs requires more time and attention. Training, walks, playtime, and general care will demand additional effort to ensure both dogs thrive.
3. Potential Compatibility Issues: Dogs have unique personalities, and not all dogs get along seamlessly. Dog Training Elite Shreveport can help with any issues along the way to help dog ownership remain an overall positive and joyful experience!

Biting, or "mouthing," is part of how a puppy learns about the world. It's often meant to be a playful behavior, but those sharp little teeth can hurt, and if it's not resolved early, it can be a long-lasting problem.

Dogs are unbelievably good at making us laugh, so we think it's appropriate to share some dog-related jokes because…why not?
Got a dog that's making you pull your hair out more than he's making you laugh? Dog Training Elite Shreveport can help!! We want the relationship between dogs and their people to be nothing short of wonderful.
The heat is no joke this year!
There are plenty of ways to keep your dog's paws safe from the burning concrete, but not all are practical every time. Dog shoes are one of the best ways to keep your dog safe outside.
It may look silly, but it works! All you need is patience and conditioning, and your pup will be set to continue on their daily walk.
If you have to hop from foot to foot without shoes, then imagine how it would be to have 4 feet! The heat hurts and can cause dangerous burns on the bottom of your dog's paws.
If your dog is struggling with shoes, here's how to help:
1) Slowly put the tip of one paw inside the shoe. Reward.
2) Once your dog is used to that, slowly add more of the same paw into the boot. Keep rewarding as you increase distance.
3) Once the boot is completely on your dog, reward and take the shoe off.
4) Put the shoe on completely and fasten the straps. Reward heavily!
5) Take the shoe off. Repeat steps 1-4 on the other three paws. Focus one at a time.
6) Once your pet is more used to the shoes on each foot, put the shoes on one by one until all 4 paws are covered. Reward!!!
7) Try to lure your dog to take a step. Reward.
8) Keep increasing distance and duration. Remember, treats are your friend at this stage!
This is a process that may take a week of slow work, but we can assure you, it's worth it! Be patient with your dog, and you'll get through this summer safely! #shreveportdte #elitenotmediocre #elitenevermediocre

If your puppy is an avid chewer, it may be difficult to train them that their mouths are only meant for food and toys! Dogs use their mouths to explore the world, as well as a form of communication. Sometimes they chew due to separation anxiety, hunger, or teething. Sometimes it's just because they are a dog and have a natural instinct to use their mouths. Instead of punishment, we train them to only use their mouths on the things meant for them, not your clothes! While any age can be taught, your dog must learn this as puppies so that they don't carry this issue into adulthood. If your dog struggles with chewing, give us a call. Don't worry, we don't bite! #shreveportdte #elitenotmediocre
