Our type, it’s so funny to me I can spot my genetics from thousands of miles away 😉 Super proud of you folks who have worked hard to create your own line from ours. All breeders have different focuses and I’m always super interested in seeing lines change and move away from my personal focus. For me personally I started with super dark egg genetics, then I closed flock after collecting the initial genetic combos I wanted to refine. To this day I’m still refining, growing out many pullets and potential breeders to perfect type and isolate any unwanted leakage or over melanizing breeders. There is no end but to continuing to breed humanly (I don’t kill culls ever) and care deeply for the birds whom provide eggs and beauty to our farm and community.

Our last west coast hatch is getting picked up, will miss these little peeps. All chicks are checked over and brooder cleaned daily. They have electrolytes adding to their water and fed organic chick starter. Only the best for these precious gems. Perfect babies 🐥♥️

Brooding tips

>>Place brooder plates at an angle and check to make sure they are not too low or high. As chicks age the plate will need to be raised.
Bantam or smaller chicks (quail) may need crumbles ground finer to be able to consume. A light amount of sand can be added to fine ground chick feed to treat for loose stools.

>>Freed scrambled eggs once a day for the first week + to make for strong healthy chicks.

>>Medicated chick feed is not necessary with proper sanitation practices.

>>Only purchase chicks vaccinated for Mareks.

>>Keep waterers and feeders clean and full at all times.

>>Have a separate brooder and initial living area for new chicks as they build their immune system.

>>Keep brooders away from drafty windows and cold night temps.

>>Have a low light in brooder space for chicks that may wander off from brooder heater plate at night.

Packing hatching eggs for some customers to ship tomorrow! To do our part in a successful experience we ship only super fresh eggs never older than 3 days but typically all eggs are collected within a day or two before shipping (some the day of) we pack our eggs securely and also try to improve from customer feedback. We test our pens for fertility almost monthly also. We always wish the best experience and also appreciate the hatchers who understand we can’t control the post and how they handle them but we do our best. We have shipped out thousands of hatching eggs and it’s such a joy to see the beautiful chickens they grow to be. Please tag us with your chickens from us if you like 🤗 it helps us see the progression and also put a smile on our faces. INCUBATION TIPS

Incubation of chicken eggs take between 21-23 days to start hatching, the first crack made by the developed chick is called a pip. After the first pip it can take up to 48 hours to fully emerge from the egg. It can at times be tempting to help the new chick out of the shell but often times it best to let nature takes its course as chicks lacking to progress in hatching have beak, neck and joint malformations. A common reason to help hatch however is the last few eggs to hatch may have a dried air sack from the chicks hatches in that case I do hand hatch to help out. If you do chose to help be prepared for a NICU chick and weeks of rehabilitation.
