Yes!
I am, and it's so rewarding and wonderful.
Don't fall into the trap of stealing someone's JOY because you didn't "win". It's NOT the ribbon that's important!

Please remember this!
No matter what breed you love, or think you want, it has a HISTORY and a genetic predisposition to continue that "job" no matter what it was. Even the overpriced mutts will follow one heritage more than the other.
Do them, and yourself, the favor and courtesy to learn if your lifestyles are compatible!
For instance, I WANTED a Tervuren in the worst way! I got one, and he was awesome, but it soon became very clear that I am NOT a herding breed owner.

Everyone who is thinking of getting dogs should read this because you need to understand this reality:

***I am a 21st century dog.***
-I'm a Malinois.
Overskilled among dogs, I excel in all disciplines and I'm always ready to work: I NEED to work.
But nowadays I get asked to chill on the couch all day everyday.

-I am an Akita Inu.
My ancestors were selected for fighting bears.
Today I get asked to be tolerant and I get scolded for my reactivity when another approaches me.

-I am a Beagle.
When I chase my prey, I raise my voice so the hunters could follow.
Today they put an electric collar on me to shut up, and you make me come back to you - no running - with a snap of your fingers.

-I am a Yorkshire Terrier.
I was a terrifying rat hunter in English mines.
Today they think I can't use my legs and they always hold me in their arms.

-I'm a Labrador Retriever.
My vision of happiness is a dive into a pond to bring back the duck he shot to my master.
Today you forget I'm a walking, running, swimming dog; as a result I'm fat, made to stay indoors, and to babysit.

-I am a Jack Russell.
I can take on a fox, a mean badger, and a rat bigger than me in his den.
Today I get scolded for my character and high energy, and forced to turn into a quiet living room dog.

-I am a Siberian Husky.
Experienced the great, wide open spaces of Northern Europe, where I could drag sleds for long distances at impressive speeds.
Today I only have the walls of the house or small garden as a horizon, and the holes I dig in the ground just to release energy and frustration, trying to stay sane.

-I am a border collie
I was made to work hours a day in partnershipwith my master, and I am an unmistakable artist of working with the herd.
Today they are mad at me because, for lack of sheep, I try to check bikes, cars, children in the house and everything in motion.

I am ...
I am a 21st century dog.
I'm pretty, I'm alert, I'm obedient, I stay in a bag...but I'm also an individual who, from centuries of training, needs to express my instincts, and I am *not* suited for the sedentary life you'd want me to lead.
Spending eight hours a day alone in the house or in the garden - with no work and no one to play or run with, seeing you for a short time in the evening when you get home, and only getting a small toilet walk will make me deeply unhappy.
I'll express it by barking all day, turning your yard into a minefield, doing my needs indoors, being unmanageable the rare times I'll find myself outside, and sometimes spending my days sunk, sad, lonely, and depressed, on my pillow.
You may think that I should be happy to be able to enjoy all this comfort while you go to work, but actually I’ll be exhausted and frustrated, because this is absolutely NOT what I'm meant to do, or what I need to be doing.
If you love me, if you've always dreamed of me, if my beautiful blue eyes or my athletic look make you want me, but you can't give me a real dog's life, a life that's really worth living according to my breed, and if you can't offer me the job that my genes are asking, DO NOT buy or adopt me!
If you like the way I look but aren't willing to accept my temperament, gifts, and traits derived from long genetic selection, and you think you can change them with only your good will, then DO NOT BUY OR ADOPT ME.
I’m a dog from the 21st century, yes, but deep inside me, the one who fought, the one who hunted, the one who pulled sleds, the one who guided and protected a herd still lives within.
So think **very** carefully before you choose your dog. And think about getting two, rather than one, so I won't be so very lonely waiting for you all day. Eight or ten hours is just a workday to you, but it's an eternity for me to be alone.

Like David Attenborough Fans for more.

An informed puppy buyer will naturally ask the breeder of a potential new family member about the health testing the parents had before the litter was born. But before you buy a puppy, be sure to check the OFA website (www.ofa.org) to verify the health test results that the breeder has given you.

Testing is breed specific… in other words, different breeds have different health concerns, and therefore should have different tests! The parent clubs for each breed determines what conditions in that breed are those for which all breeding stock should be tested. For instance, the Golden Retriever Club of America says that all Golden sires and dams should have hip and elbow evaluations, an eye exam by a board certified ophthalmologist, and a cardiac exam at age 12 months or older by a veterinary cardiologist. The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America recommends that all breeding stock have an eye exam by a board certified ophthalmologist at 1, 3 and 6 years of age (at a minimum) and also have a patellar luxation exam by a qualified veterinarian, at 12 months of age or older for OFA certification.

Testing recommended for each breed can be found on the OFA website. From the home page just click on “Tests by Breed,” or follow this link: http://www.ofa.org/breedtests.html?btnSearch=Tests+by+Breed

Responsible breeders will never object to a buyer asking about health testing. Again, be sure to verify that the sire and dam of your potential new pup have had the tests required by visiting the OFA website. All you need is the sire and dam’s registration number (whether an AKC number, Canadian Kennel Club number or a number from another registry) or the dog’s OFA or CHIC number. HOW MUCH FOR A PUPPY?

Let me say a few words to you, yes you, the person who texts an email to just ask for the price. The person who calls and hears a price surprisingly says: ′′ I can buy a cheaper puppy somewhere else ". I'll talk to you too; the person who doesn't care about papers because I want ′′ just a pet ".

No dog is ′′ just a pet ". they are FAMILY💞

Behind every purebred puppy / dog is a BREEDER. I use capital letters to distinguish a breeder from an animal factory or mill. A serious breeder does not breed dogs without documents that do not protect the integrity of the breed.

Registration (papers) are records of ancestry documenting the bloodline and enabling you to investigate possible health problems in your lineage.

When you tell a breeder you don't care about paper, tell them you don't care less about puppy health, you just want the cheapest thing you can find!

If you choose to buy a puppy from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for every puppy's health.

This breeder will skip vacation, miss sleep, and most of his personal home space has been transformed into space for their dogs. The truly passionate breeder, who loves what they breed, puts all their life's blood into it. Not only for puppies that are sold, but also for every customer who owns a piece of their heart and is now a member of their large family. This does not take into account puppies / dogs that may be getting sick or need extra help to thrive. Breeders worry about their babies after leaving and take them back without question.

A breeder will get his hands dirty, often covered in everything that comes with birth. Because that's what life is all about... in the midst of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps spinning. A breeder conducts tests, echoes, x-rays, analytics, emergency C section, vaccinations, registration throws, research pedigrees, deworming, litter box training, and microchips of his puppies and has them examined by specialists.

Last but not least, a breeder CHOOSES the family who is lucky enough to have one of their puppies. Yes, you read correctly. A real breeder chooses who he sells to because he doesn't make money selling. There is no compensation that can offset the investment a breeder has made, so they must be able to rely on it to be the right choice. Often more than saying yes...

A good breeder has other criteria for those who want to continue his bloodline, why? Since breeding isn't a responsibility to take lightly, it's a lifestyle choice reserved ONLY for the few devoted people willing to sacrifice.

Since a dog is never ′′ just a pet!!! he is the legacy of the breeder, a little boy's best friend, a protector of a little girl, therapy for elderly, a member of the family, someone's whole world!!!

Worth sharing with so much truth in this article. Responsible breeding and possession of several dogs is a lifestyle and commitment many cannot understand.

7 days a week and 365 days a year I am available because my life revolve around my babies❣️
