Hey everyone! Important message 👋🏼

It’s been 5 years since I started this buissness and gave it a name 🐾🐈🐕

March 18th was the 2 year anniversary of my accident. ❤️‍🩹

Many know I had to take a year off from my buissness when my accident happened and even after I worked with limitations. Things have gotten so much better but after working more I’ve realized I have to make some changes for myself. 🙌🏼

I will be closing my pet care business and it breaks my heart more than you can know.

But I am working hard towards my homestead dreams, baking at my family’s restaurant, and possibly turning Tabby & Hound into my own pet treat/raw diet food topper buissness!

So thank you for all the support through my business, accident, and hopefully any of my future ventures! Definitely not a good bye and hope to still see everyone 🥰

Please pet and give love to all your animals for me. Each one holds a special place in my heart and soul. 🐾💕

⚠️💐Mothers Day Warning!💐⚠️

This is a popular holiday for flowers. As pet owners and sitters, please keep your eyes out for flowers/plants that could be toxic to pets.

🐈‍⬛⛔️The most dangerous one being many species of Lilies for Cats!⛔️🐈
They DO NOT have to eat Lilie’s to get sick. The pollen from the flower being breathed in or even touching their skin can send them into toxic shock. If you touch the flowers, please wash your hands 🙌🏼

I have seen a few other notices and warnings from individuals, and now I’m seeing them from vet clinics.

So I’m sharing so everyone may be aware of the risks and keep up to date on what’s happening. Many times these outbreaks start in Wilmington but can start to travel to smaller communities.

Happy 2023! 🥳🥂🐾
I am accepting check in appointments again!

After speaking with my doctors I will have to start slow and set limitations.

❌No overnight stays
❌Being cautious with dogs known to jump
❌No dog walking for large, strong, or reactive dogs that pull (due to my recovering back).
❌No heavy lifting or pulling

It honestly hurts to have to refuse service to any of my clients and the pets I love so much. Hopefully these things can change by the end of the year!

Brunswick County Health Services was recently notified about a cat in the southern central part of the county that has tested positive for rabies. Full details: http://ow.ly/MVg550LE4Q9

State law requires dogs, cats, and ferrets to be vaccinated against rabies by four months of age and maintain the animal’s current rabies vaccination status throughout its entire lifetime. One shot is not enough; rabies vaccinations must be kept current. Talk to your veterinarian about when your pet needs its rabies booster shots.

It’s a really odd feeling going into holidays and not being able to work. This time last year the month of November looked like this. 😅 I was:

🍁Averaging 12 appointments a day (plus overnights) before holiday week.

🦃Thanksgiving Day I did 16 appointments

🍂Busiest day of the month was 25 appointments. 5:30am-11pm

I’m not even going to peek at December. 😅

I might just be a workaholic but treat your pet sitters/dog walkers (and other holiday workers) kindly whether they have decided to work holidays this year or not!
I am really fortunate to have so many wonderful pet parents and always felt appreciated. 🥰 I’m a little sad I can’t work this year but hopefully 2023 my recovery will have me back to work!

I hope everyone has safe travels and your pets are well taken care of this holiday season!
🥰🐾🦃🎄

Just had to update the sign on my business page for anyone new!

I am still in recovery from a serious car accident that occurred in March.
Right now I’m dealing with a bulging disc in my lower back pinching my sciatic nerve and having difficulties getting doctor appointments with specialists. We’re praying surgery won’t be needed. 😅

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out! I also made a group called ”Pet Care Services of Brunswick County, NC” for owners and people offering services, can post to.

I’ll keep everyone updated as much as I can! Miss seeing y’all! 💗🐾

As we’re seeing the effects of Ian and keeping eyes on how it will effect our neck of the woods, it’s a good time for all owners and pet sitters to touch base. We want to keep pets safe but have to keep ourselves and families safe too! 💗

⛈🌀Please review with your owners/clients on what is to happen with pets and homes in case of weather emergencies!🌀⛈

Often times we’re taking care of multiple households of pets, so when something happens we can’t very well take every animal to our own homes. Or if we’re unable to travel to homes. Owners should be leaving emergency contacts, established vet info, and who the animals can go to in case of emergencies/evacuation notices.

Household:
🔵Please establish whether you or someone the owner has appointed, is responsible for storm/Hurricane proofing the home (moving yard items, Hurricane shutters, freezing water, etc).

Pets:
🔴Make sure you have gone over whether the pets have storm fears/anxiety and if special procedures apply (harness/leashed always, crates, calming treats, etc)
🔴Owners should leave out or make kennels/carriers easily accessible if pets are to be moved.
🔴Collars with ID tags should be on pets or microchip info double checked to be up to date/functioning.

Outside Pets:
⚪️Please review what is to be done for outside pets like cats (or livestock like chickens) who may not live inside.

Praying and sending good thoughts for everyone’s family effected. 💗

For my clients, if we’ve talked about any possible pet care for September.

I‘ve been experiencing bad sciatic nerve pain in my left leg this month and it escalated to being in pain non stop no matter the position I’m in. We went to the ER yesterday and it seems I have a bulging disc that’s pinching the sciatic nerve.

I have to see a specialist and I’m not sure what the process is or how long it will take.
I’m really sorry, hopefully it gets resolved quickly.

Everyone’s keeping on eye on me 💗

Happy Tails

My name is Tierra Pointer and I am the owner of Tabby & Hound Pet Care. 🐈🐕 I currently have 3 dogs of my own and if you ask about them I could talk all day! Each of them have their own unique personality and needs so when it’s time for vet appointments or traveling it’s stressful to plan for them. Asking questions like; Do I have time during work to walk them? Can I board them in a kennel? Are they getting the attention they need? What if they get sick?

As a fellow owner, I understand these concerns and created my business around the idea of a worry free service to relieve stress for both pets and owners. Pets can stay in their home where they are comfortable and owner’s will receive updates and can contact me at anytime.

Like many I love animals, so any chance to work with them and learn how to better care for them is a passion in my life. I have been learning how to care for and train pets from I young age and then growing up I often rescued or volunteered. Whether it was leashing lost dogs and tracking down their owners or cleaning kennels in shelters. I have dealt with many types of breeds, ages, and sizes so I am confident I can help care for your companion! I have no problem with other household pets either (reptiles, fish, birds, etc.).

When I am walking or sitting your pets I am attentive to their needs and dedicated to their safety. I will send you updates during each walk or visit that includes a brief summary of how your pet is doing and photos or videos. Owner’s can choose how many photos or how often they are sent. Owner’s can also feel free to make small requests like getting the mail, bringing in trash cans, watering plants or whatever task needs doing while I am around!
