Teach Your Dog "Leave It" with the Fun Helicopter Game!
Tired of jumpy greetings? This game is a lifesaver!

Here's how to play:
1️⃣ Be the Chopper! Hold a treat near your pup's nose, then slowly lower it.
2️⃣ Jump = Take Off! If your dog jumps, raise your hand (the helicopter) quickly!
3️⃣ Patience is Key! ⏱️ Wait for your dog to keep all 4 paws on the ground and not lunge at the treat.
4️⃣ Yes & Reward! Once they wait, say "Yes!" and give the treat.
5️⃣ Level Up! Gradually increase difficulty: distance, height, treat value.

Is it a fact or a myth? Positive Reinforcement Training heavily relies on treats or food rewards. 🦴

The first thing I tell my clients is to ensure we are meeting their dogs needs!

Behavior doesn’t occur in a vacuum. To elaborate:

🐾 if your dog loves playing with other dogs, it’s going to be REALLY hard to train them on walks if EVERY time they see a dog in the distance, they think that this is their ONE opportunity to go say hi and interact with another dog!

🐾 if your dog has a UTI it’ll be impossible to potty train them until you get that resolved!

🐾 if your dog can’t find a place to decompress inside the home (due to living in a busy area, or having young kids) then it will be challenging to train as well

This is true for humans as well! If I am in line at my fav store () and someone cuts me in line, I might just let them know politely the line is behind me…But if I have a headache, and am HANGRY I might not be as nice.

Teaching your dog to want to work with you is key to building a strong and positive relationship with your furry friend. 🐕

When your dog is motivated to work with you, training becomes a fun and rewarding experience for BOTH of you. 💕

On the other hand, forcing your dog to work with you can lead to frustration, resentment, and even aggression. ⚠

So, instead of relying on punishment or coercion, focus on building a bond of trust and respect with your dog through positive reinforcement training.

This means rewarding good behavior, being patient and consistent, and creating a safe and comfortable environment for your dog to learn and grow.

By doing so, you'll not only have a well-behaved dog, but also a loyal and loving companion for life.
