Happy World Orangutan Day!🦧
Orangutans are native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, encompassing Indonesia and Malaysia. The term orangutan which means "person of the forest," accurately describes these remarkable creatures as the largest arboreal mammals on Earth. However, due to habitat loss from logging, mining and agricultural activities, orangutans are now classified as an endangered species. At the Gulf Breeze Zoo, we are dedicated to supporting the conservation efforts for these majestic animals.
