When you got skills…sorta. 🥰 But look how handsome and sa-weeeeet! 😍Dingo is SUCH a good boy and so smart. He will be the best best-friend to anyone (unless you’re a cat). Wonderful with kids and other dogs! Even with a sassy foster sister who rules the roost, he still wants to show her love. Consider Dingo as your sidekick and see how wonderful the world will be not only for you, but for him. 🐾

WARNING - GRAPHIC PHOTOS: Simply put, one of our fosters said they really wanted to help this girl. So meet Arietta.

A shelter volunteer saw her outside of a Walmart & tried to help, but Arietta was so afraid that she couldn't catch her. Their kind animal control officers worked 3hrs to gain her trust. We are so grateful to them because this girl is an absolute dream. 💞

She came to the shelter at 35lbs and approx 3yrs old, as you see her in the first photo. They worked hard for her & she's now 42lbs! At the vet she wanted to hug & kiss everybody...EVERY body. She loves to hug & snuggle, & kiss & snuggle, & kiss, & give more kisses. She's extremely gentle, bright eyed, & well mannered. She is, of course, emaciated, & has several spots on her skin, mainly the pressure wound on her hip. The shelter worked hard on her wounds, & we're continuing with antibiotics & a wound cream. She is slightly anemic b/c she was covered in fleas when they found her, but bloodwork showed she's otherwise doing well...we just need to slowly get her back into shape. Her recovery will take time, but we're going to share her journey with you all the way! Currently she's picking out her favorite sweater and jacket for the polar blast, destroying toys, & doing some zoomies!

Some of you might recognize the word Arietta from music theory as an elaborate, short solo piece. We say it's beautiful music for the soul, just like our sweet new girl. Welcome little one! Prepare to get your belly full and more kisses that you ever dreamed!

VET DAY!! Today Baxter and Paulie saw doc for their check up. Baxter has a big fatty area on his side, but thankfully that's all it is vs something of consequence. He got a nail trim and some blood drawn for bloodwork and heartworm test, and thankfully bloodwork gave us good results. He does have some ouchy hips, to which we've already started him on omegas, cbd, and joint care, so we'll add an anti-inflammatory to help, as well. I'm super proud of Paulie, who is the one that is so scared. While he grumbled a smidgen when doc walked into the room, he calmed and was a champ for his vaccines, heartworm test and exam. As you can tell in the photo, he even went up to the nurse for some petting! I kept telling him how proud I was of his behavior. He also let my brother walk him over the weekend, and has a crush on Mimi the Pyr, so he's certainly learning and opening up, slowly but surely.

They are lovely, fun, handsome boys and I'm glad we've been able to help them. While Baxter and his 14yr old sprightly self will remain in our sanctuary, we look forward to helping Paulie overcome his fears and find a home that will adore his sweet little face, his hippity-hop when he walks, and his tender heart while understanding he can be a little scared. Let's give these babies a high 5 for just being awesome!

The new year brings us new adventures and two new handsome boys. Meet Baxter and Paulie. These two brothers adore each other due to their very big hearts. Baxter, a senior corgi mix, is 14yrs old. He is a soft hearted but tough ol’ guy who is full of charm. His handsome reddish brown, 4yr old brother Paulie is a bigger baby who finds himself very afraid of people, but who also loves to be loved when he feels safe with you. Both have endured a great loss and are uncertain of what’s happened, but they are settling in well. We look forward to letting them decompress and find themselves lots of toys and buddies to play with. They welcome your positive thoughts and prayers while they adjust, see the vet, learn to trust, and learn new routines. We are thankful we were able to step in and help them at a time when they needed it most. Such darling, darling boys! ❤️

This year has been full of difficulties, but many blessings, as well. We have placed some fantastic animals in wonderful homes, saved some amazing dogs, and helped others we've been caring for over time, making them stronger and happier. It has been an honor to work with each of them, for they have dispositions and hearts that deserve the best. You are an enormous part of this success through your kindness, support, and generosity, and we are forever grateful. While the animals continue to rise in numbers in shelters, more owners are unable to keep theirs, and strays are found in abundance, we vow to keep fighting for those who need us. We hope you will stay with us in our journey, for we have been delighted to have you by our side. Let's continue to do good things together and make 2025 the best year yet. We CAN, and we WILL! 💞🙌💪🐾

VET DAY!! Today Magoo went to the internist again. We did a recheck on his urine (awaiting results), bloodwork, and reevaluated his cough. His liver enzymes (one of them) are high, so we’re cutting back on his prednisone and adding some liver supplements to his list of meds. We’ll keep an eye on the cough to see what, if any, changes take place, as well. He was quite happy to see his friends again and show off his new jacket. Hopefully the med changes will make a difference for his liver and nothing more will come of it. Keep him in your thoughts a prayers please. He’s doing fine and we caught it, but he’s such a fragile boy who keeps getting hit, so we welcome all good wishes. Meanwhile, he expects you to tell him how GQ handsome he is in his winter garb. 😎🐾 .

Oh my...what ever will the gift be??? Either way, these girls will continue to be the best of buds and love each other dearly, despite a little Christmas prank or two.

Should you find that you'd like to gift just one more time, perhaps consider the k9.5 fluffies and not so fluffies. We look forward to their new year being full of goodness and light!

And we do for you, as well. May your Christmas Eve melt into a joyous day of everything lovely!🎄

Temps dropped significantly, so for the short haired and almost hairless (Sterling), it was time to bring out the jackets and sweaters. Matilda got a perfect one this year, appropriately suited for her ( ). In case you don’t know Matilda well, she’s the boss. All 38, no-eyed pounds of her. Not only is she brilliant like a general 🧠, she is fearless like an NCIS agent (her fave show, btw). 😎 Hence the perfect words (swipe). Matilda is a superhero and the others all know and accept her seniority…😈 as if they had a choice. So this fancy smancy new jacket suits the bill. Naturally, she sports it like a supermodel. You get’em gurl. 👊🏻

Lovely Libby has come so far. ❤️ She's doing quite well on her supplement regime, and her breathing has much improved as a result. It's such a relief to see her relaxed. So now her daily routine consists of sleeping, pawing, snuggling, and then sleeping, pawing, snuggling again X 47 until it's dark enough outside to "work." Then she ruuuuns outside to protect us all from goons and goblins and play with her foster siblings, only to come in for a good night's rest on one of her favorite beds, always sure to give a goodnight snuggle to her people before she lies down. Libby is a tremendous snuggler, and if you stop the doting she'll remind you with the Pyr Paw that it's unacceptable. Finally, she'll sleep until morning...or afternoon, whatever she prefers that day. After all, when a girl works hard she needs her beauty sleep...and as you can tell, it works b/c she is beeeeUUUtiful!

Libby went through a lot but has come out better than ever, stronger, prouder, and happier. While fireworks or storms may still frighten her, causing her to want some reassurance, she has surpassed her anxiety like a champ. We're proud of this gorgeous gal. We hope one day she'll be able to share her incredible heart with a family of her own.

VET DAY!!! Yesterday Janie went in for a recheck with the surgeon. We just wanted to see how she was developing, see if there were any changes orthopedically, any changes in recommendations, so on and so forth. So she spent the day throwing around her charm and getting examined.

I had such high hopes. I thought maybe we'd get lucky and there may be some sort of news that would be a positive move for her. We saw a different surgeon this time, but the response remained the same. Grade 3 in one leg, 4 in the other, and there was a high risk that surgery wouldn't do any good. Not that we can't try, but there is no guarantee that the surgery would provide good results - aka: patella would pop right back out. It might be successful, but it might all be worth nothing. She has her breed, her size, and the fact that they are lateral vs medial (the most common) working against her. So again, we ponder. Do you put her through a big surgery and a minimum of 8wks of hard recovery for it to go right back to the same way she was before, still resulting in the same outcome as not doing surgery, or do it and hope you get lucky? We want what is best for Janie and that's what the decision will be based upon, but first there must be a great deal of thinking and discussing what this girl will and would go through on each side of the scale. If there is anyone out there who has done a LATERAL patella surgery on a dog, please let us know how it went for you and your dog.

Right now she is happy, very playful, runs, wrestles with her besties, and is overall a very happy girl who acts as if nothing is wrong (unless you don't get food to her fast enough which, as we all know, is criminal). She is all Great Pyrenees with her mindset and actions. She's a tough cookie with adorable sass. We shall ponder. Again, it's all about what's best for her. Meanwhile, look at that beautiful face! 😍🥰

When you’re such a sweet girl that you scoot over to let Magoo in the bed. Potato has such a heart of gold. 💛 Mounds of love in this little girl. She deserves a home who will appreciate her kindness, understand her shyness, appreciate her desire to give big hugs, and who will let her snuggle with you at bedtime. If you have a big boy she can hug and kiss like her favorite Pyrenees, that’s a plus, too! 🥰 This playful yet well mannered girl is a true gem. She will steal your heart and erase all your troubles. 💕

Layla continues to charm her foster family and rule the town from her perch. This 10yr old has no idea she’s not 4, still active, showing the crazy little whippersnappers the ropes, and tucking herself in bed at night. Still waiting for her forever home, she is sure to win your heart with her s***k, big love, striking beauty, and enormous smile. Seniors are incredible dogs…give this one a look and you’ll fall in love!

VET DAY!! I know posts have slowed down quite a bit, and I apologize for that. I have taken some needed time to digest the passing of my father and get my brain straight. But today we got back in the groove with a visit to the veterinary ophthalmologist. Sterling visited with Dr Pate so we could check on his candidacy for cataract surgery. She said he can have it, and a good percentage of success. There is a lot to consider, however, including recovery, potential problems, etc. I honestly don’t know what to do. It is elective, so it’s not like he has to have it done. He’s happy, goofy, goes about his day…but the wonder is if it will help with the anxiety he’s developed. Or will it push him into more anxiety b/c of the recovery process and restrictions, the need to be calm, any potential issues…I don’t know. The goal would be to make things easier, but he does well as it is. Recovery would be significant - he’s a dog with energy who would have to be very calm. Then there’s my knees from his e-collar….😉So, we shall ponder and deliberate. Again, the goal is what’s best for him, and it’s not a required surgery. Meanwhile, he will start an anti inflammatory to help prevent glaucoma.

As you can see, he was exhaaauusted. He slept like that for half the trip. True story. 😆
