We are thrilled about receiving this fantastic update about one of our collies adopted in 2021!

From her mom:
“Last night Morgan graduated from her advanced obedience class and passed the Canine Good Citizen's test!! 👏🏻

To say I am proud of this girl is an understatement. She is the most independent and challenging Collie I have ever adopted. It just goes to show that with love and patience, anything can be accomplished.”

The Annual Picnic for our wonderful Adopters and Volunteers is just around the corner! We are excited to see you and your collies!

We are planning another fun filled event with a Best Dog Trick Contest, Lasssie Look Alike Contest, Collie Twinsies Contest and Doggie Dunk Competition.

Plus you’ll meet so many wonderful people and, of course, the Collies! 🐾

We received this this sad update from Sam’s adopters.

“Our Beloved Sam succumbed to a lung tumor recently and we thought we would share with you.

Sam was a very special dog. We didn’t know it at the time when we adopted him what a unique personality he had and how much he Loved to be Loved. We have so many wonderful memories of Sam and miss him everyday.”

RIP sweet boy. 🌈😔

Charlie has been with us little over a week now. Since he’s quite bit overweight- at whopping 132 lbs! - his foster family started his weight loss program, cutting down on kibble and exercising more. They started his walks and Charlie can now do under a mile, he tolerates it well. Good thing he likes to play with the resident collie. All this will help him loose those unnecessary pounds!

***Heidi Update***

Our sweet girl Heidi has finished her treatment and the last blood test confirmed she’s free of Heartworms!

Heidi’s second foster mom, who took care of her during the final part of treatment, has fallen in love and decided to adopt her. We are thrilled!

Happy forever after sweet Heidi!

With the greatest sadness we share this update. Another sweet collie has gained her wings.

From her mom:
“Addy Grace had a stroke yesterday and couldn't walk. I took her out back to lay in the grass one more time and spent some time with her and Desi before going to the vet. This special little girl brought so much joy into my life and so many others. She was the joyfull wake up call in the morning and greeting when I came home. My heart is broken.

Run and play sweet girl. I know Chance was there to greet you. I can't imagine my home without your joyful spirit.”

We received a very sad news. Sweet Polo has crossed Rainbow Bridge. 🌈

Polo came to us with his brother in 2021 at the age of seven. He’s found his forever family and was very much loved. He quickly bonded with his new people and never looked back. Polo welcomed another collie in the beginning of 2023, Spirit, and they hit it off right away, they loved running and playing together. Spirit is going to miss him as much as his family. 💔

Thank you in advance for reading this and considering to help Skylar. Skylar has spent most of his life helping others and now he’s the one needing help.

Skylar was picked up by animal control with another collie. Both collies were abandoned and in a need of help. Collie Rescue of Greater Illinois came to their rescue. Laura, fell in love with Skylar and adopted him. This sweet boy ended up being the best therapy dog helping others. Sadly, Skylar was diagnosed with prostate cancer and his mom is doing what she can to save his life.

Looking for the perfect dog? Well, there’s no such thing, but two-year-old Cilian might just be perfect for you!

Cilian was cautious, quiet, and confused when he first arrived, but he quickly came out of his shell upon meeting another dog. He has a knack for figuring out other dogs’ play styles and gets along great with all of the resident collies. He comes alive when playing and even lets out a muffled, deep bark. Generally, he’s not noisy, but when he’s excited he might emit a delightful howl.

Cilian is a bit cautious when meeting strangers, but once he’s comfortable with his people, he likes to stay nearby and follow them around. He enjoys human interaction and loves to snuggle. He’s not a fan of being crated, but it’s not necessary anyway. Cilian is fine being left alone when his foster family runs errands.

He is a polite boy who minds his manners. He knows sit, shake, stay, drop it, and come. He actually sits and shakes before meals! Cilian walks great on a leash and will stay by your side. He loves going for long walks. When startled, he recovers fairly quickly and becomes curious enough to investigate. Storms don’t bother him, but he’s not fond of fireworks.

This sweet boy is looking for a forever home where his human is home most of the day and isn’t gone for long periods of time. He would do well with another confident, happy, playful dog close to his age. Cilian would be fine with a calm child who knows how to respect a dog’s space.

He is a smart, friendly, gentle dog with a lot of personality. If you love long walks and snuggles, you might just be perfect for Cilian!

Georgie Girl came into rescue after being found running down the streets all fancy free. She had a bad case of flea allergy dermatitis and had lost some fur to it. Her foster home noted that the fur is starting to grow back; Georgie is now sporting a great deal of “peachfuzz.” Her sable color is very red. When all her fur comes in, Georgie girl will be gorgeous girl!

Being around 4 years young, Georgie loves to play. She will play fetch all day if you are willing to sit there. She is a very active girl and will definitely need a fenced yard. In addition to running after a ball, Georgie loves to jump. She has cleanly jumped over the resident collie in her foster home. She will also jump on the couch, the bed, and into the car. Besides playing and running, Georgie LOVES people. She wants to be around her people, getting gentle pets and repaying them with kisses. Georgie really is more interested in people than other dogs. She actually doesn’t know how to play with dogs and takes her ball to them. Unfortunately, the foster home’s dogs don’t know how to throw it for her.

Georgie already knows sit and move, and she comes about 50% of the time. She definitely needs work on leash walking. Georgie Girl learns very fast and is very eager to please. Obedience, agility, and pet therapy would be very good outlets for her energy. Because she is large, around 62 pounds, and very active, older children would be a better fit for her.

Georgie Girl has a lot of love to give; she’s just waiting for someone to give it to.
