Nails! 💅🏼 Keeping them well trimmed is an important part of your dog's care. This is our 4th nail session with Cinder. Every time I have kept the routine the same. It is very methodical. She knows exactly what to expect when she is shown the nail tools and asked to get on the couch. She certainly has the option to walk away at any time, but she chooses to stay, and she's pretty happy about it! Starting your puppy's positive husbandry journey as young as possible sets them up for a lifetime of care without struggle and fear. We're here to help! Don’t let your guard down. Fireworks will be back tonight. 🫣 Medicate your babies who are nervous and give them a nice, safe place to snuggle down. How did we prepare Cinder for the onslaught? Well, with two kids and four dogs we lead a life of barely controlled chaos at all times, so she is no stranger to loud and unexpected sounds at this point. 😆 I set Cinder up with me in a quiet area of the house where we could hear the television and radio and also the booms in the distance. Boom. Treat! Not Treat. Boom. Not BOOMTREAT. Boom. (Pause) Treat. What about when the booms were nonstop? I watched her body language. Sometimes she was chewing and didn’t really notice the boom. I waited until I saw her acknowledge a sound. (Which was difficult with, again, all the chaos. But we don’t have to be perfect!) And what if she’s panicked? What if she tried to escape? We had an exit plan. A nice safe closet where I could blare some classical music and escape the noises. Happy New Year!!

Our relationship-focused group classes currently have openings for you and your pup! Raising Rover group classes will help you and your new family member get started off on the right paw. Our puppy classes focus on safely and carefully exposing your puppy to new sights, sounds, smells, surfaces, and various other situations that will help set them up for success in their adult lives. Raising Rover is for puppies under 16 weeks of age, and is held on Tuesdays at 6:30pm and Saturdays at 11:00am. Focus, Fido group classes are held Wednesdays at 9:30am and will help you and your older pup start speaking the same language.
