Cubaris sp. “black panda” is a black morph of the “panda king” isopod.

Originating from Thailand, these guys and gals are a very hardy species that love a humid environment.

We are SUPER excited to be working with this species!

We have been working with this interesting species for months and it has finally paid off!

this GORGEOUS species of roach is “Gyna caffrorum” or the “Chrome roach”.

This species of roach likes to burrow into the substrate as nymphs, while they are in this stage they cannot climb smooth surfaces.

When they reach maturity they are a beautiful grey and black mixed with speckles and gain the ability to climb smooth surfaces.

They make good feeders but are primarily kept as pets due to rarity and beauty!

Nothing like some clean leaf litter to spice up any enclosure!

There are a MULTITUDE of benefits to having real leaves on the floor in a bioactive, from helping keep moisture in the substrate to keeping frogs off of the floor of your enclosure, Isopods, millipedes and springtails THRIVE under leaf litter.

Our leaves are NEVER exposed to harsh chemicals or any pesticides so no need to worry about your companion being exposed!

Did you know that bone meal is an awesome additive to soil for a multitude of reasons!

It’s a GREAT source of calcium for isopods and millepedes but it also has a range of benefits for plants as well!

Here’s how to turn some leftover compost bones into an AWESOME resource.

1. Gather clean bones (clean = No meat)

2. Lay out bones on pan.

3. Bake bones at 450 degrees for about 20-30 mins.

4. Add bones to mortar and pestle, we like to do it while they’re still warm.

5. Grind bones down to consistency you prefer.

6. Store in ziploc bag until used.

Look at this BEAUTIFUL baby chameleon snacking on a newly emerged black soldier fly!!! He’s so cute!!! And that enclosure though!!! 😮

Absolute beautiful species! One of the biggest species in the world,native to Madagascar, these roaches reach up to 3 inches when fully grown. They are flightless roaches and have adapted in nature by using a “hissing” sound to ward off large insectivores! Excellent source of fat and protein when used as feeders!

Check out these beautiful birds eating some of THE BEST roaches from the gulf coast! You Can see when it sets in how delicious they are!!
