To whom it may concern:
Tonight we got a call for your sweet, young cat. The one you failed. The one you failed first by not getting her any vet care. The one you then failed by letting outside and allowing her to get pregnant. The one you failed yet again by letting wander the streets. She was hit by a car today. Strangers picked her little body up and took her to the emergency vet. More strangers then worked on her and called every rescue in their system asking for help so they wouldn't have to stop working on her. We said "yes." We are strangers to her also. Claudia sat at the emergency vet and authorized $1300 to try and save your cat and her babies. We asked strangers to help and they did. They gave five dollars, ten dollars, fifty. They came up with the money for the cat that you failed. Hours later Claudia stood there alone when the vet said her liver was failing and she was bleeding out. Claudia had to make the decision to euthanize your cat. What you should know about Claudia? She could just sign a paper and leave. Except she wouldn't do that. Instead she went to the comfort room with your cat just as if it were her own. She held her, loved her, stroked her fur as she purred and made biscuits against her. Claudia cried for your cat...the one you failed. The one you don't even know is dead. The one you likely will never give another thought to. We've paid for her cremation and with her all the babies she held inside of her.
Had I saved your cat? People would have begged to adopt her. She was so beautiful. She was sweet. Everyone loves a Siamese. They value them differently. She held no value for you.
Tonight all of these strangers reading this? Well they will also mourn your cat and her babies. The one you failed. Claudia named her Almond.
