Adoption Announcement:

Our sweet CucumberDill and BleuCheese have their forever home! A Big Thank You and Hugs to the Adopting Family! We are so happy for these special kittens and their wonderful new family with a full house of kids and a mature dog and cat.

We'd also like to thank all the Volunteers who contributed to the trapping, transporting, housing, care, socializing, and adoption coordination that led to these successful results for this litter of six kittens and their Barn Cat Mama. We are forever grateful to you all.

“Find A Home For The Holidays”
We have a lot of adult cats and kittens that need to find their forever homes, so we decided to create this special adoption event.

This special will run through December 22, 2024.
Kitten adoptions are $75 for under 6 months
Adult adoptions are $50 for 6 months or older

Parasite Testing through IDEXX Laboratories

Did you know that we can provide parasite testing for your cats and dogs through Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue?

Standard F***l includes IDEXX Zinc Sulfate Float test and antigen testing for coccidia, flea tape worm, hookworm, whip worm and roundworm.

We can also add on for Giardia testing.

The standard f***l test price is $30
The f***l plus Giardia test price is $38
F***l and Upper Respiratory PCR testing is available as well, but prices will vary based on test.

We send the samples to IDEXX and the results are usually back within 24-48 hours. You will get a copy of the results (sample picture).

Please note: We do not offer any medications or recommendations for treatment as we do not provide veterinary services. You would need to consult with your veterinarian about the results for any treatment plans.

This sweet, grumpy girl is Lucy. She is one of the 6 cats that we took into the Rescue from the Stoneboro Fairgrounds property a couple of months ago.

She is still very shy of humans and now we have better understanding of why. The foster felt a lump at the back of her jaw on Friday so we made an appointment at the vet for her.

Today they removed a 22 caliber bullet from her neck. We are trying to contact the humane officer for Mercer county to see if they want to investigate.

There was absolutely no reason for what happened to her. She was already spayed and ear tipped by whoever was caring for those cats before we got her.

Why can’t people just leave these defenseless animals alone. They were living in barns on a large piece of property and were obviously cared for over the years as they were spayed/neutered, had shelters and people going to feed them.

Instead they have now blocked off access to the feeding area and put up no trespassing signs. Hopefully karma catches up with all involved.

They've been intensely and lovingly socialized, are all expert litterbox users and even enjoy sleeping in their 3 story kennel (we don't even shut the doors).

We need a 1 or 2 dedicated volunteers to join our adoption team. This can be done all from your home and we will train you on the process.

Duties:
Check adoption applications in our ShelterLuv system
Review background checks for potential
Verify Vet references
Verify home ownership or landlord approval
Conduct phone interviews with potential adopters
Advertise adoptable cats on social media

With us doing a lot of TNR we don’t have a lot of intakes right now but we do have about 30 cats we need to find homes for.

We have lost to many adopters because we can’t get our approvals done fast enough this year.

We apologize for getting this out late. We're so happy to announce the adoption of 2 Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue kittens recently! Our orange boys, SourCream and SweetOnion, now known as Cosmo and Felix 😻😻.
Thank you Matt, Amy, and Nadia for giving them a furever home 💕
And, thank you to our Fosters, always, for giving our cats and kittens the shelter, love, and care they need until adoption. We can't do this work without you.

With so much going on we forgot to post our 5 Year Anniversary this year. It has been such a great journey so far and we have learned so much over the last 5 years.

The last 2 years our focus has shifted to TNR, and we feel it has made an impact, even if it's a small one. Last year we Spayed/Neutered 197 Feral and Community cats and this year we are already over 200 from Mercer and Butler counties. With our focus on TNR, we have definitely run into some hurdles especially with feral cats that cannot be returned to their location due to unsafe conditions or lack of caregiver. We are working on a solution, but it will require lots of help.

We have shut down our Barn Sales and are working on creating a safe place for these feral cats to stay. We have the barn mostly cleared out and have our first enclosure built which will be for 4 of the cats we picked up from the Stoneboro Fairgrounds. We want to build this into a sanctuary for these animals in need with a large fenced in area outside, quarantine areas for new intakes and transition areas for when they are ready.

This will be a big undertaking, and we will need lots of help with funding and item donations, but the cats are worth it.

In addition to monetary donations, we could use donations of time from labor workers, contractors, builders, engineers and we will need lots of building materials. If you're interested in getting involved with this project, please reach out.

Ready for Adoption. Born Aug 16: 3 Lovely Light Gray Girls and 1 Dk Gray Girl. (Mama had them in a volunteers' trap.) All spayed, vetted, and microchipped. Have been socialized since they could stumble out from Mama. Very sweet and holdable, expert litterbox users, eating dry and can food. Please stop debating and snap up a kitten or, better yet, two 😻😻. Foster is in Butler, PA.

Please share, share, share. These four sweet, 10 week old, girls are still available. Fully vetted, spayed, and microchipped. Expert litterbox users, purr machines, very sweet and able to be held and handled easily. Bleu Cheese and Cucumber are a pair. They are being fostered in Butler, PA.
