Maley Road Hazelnuts was started by our father and we have made the irreversible decision to continue the tradition of dragging our families through weekends of wet, muddy work...all for a nut :)

Went out to see the new Jefferson's last weekend and they're coming along nicely. Irrigating gave the ones planted in the rocky area the jump start they needed.

Oregon hazelnut industry sidesteps blight and rebounds to a promising market

Very good article. MRH has 50 acres of trees that are 30 years old and susceptible to the blight. We recently planted 100 acres of disease resistant trees. The existing 50 acres will continue to produce while we wait for the new trees to ramp up production.

Once facing doom from eastern filbert blight, Oregon orchardists are now adding about 3,000 acres of hazelnuts per year, a 10 percent annual gain.
