🐶Puppy Protective Service is back open and a bit different. 🐶

From now on we will be focusing more on animal boarding and pet care consulting.

Low capacity, first come first served! Please get in touch at least 15 days in advance for availability. Max capacity 3 dogs.

Vaccinations are required after 18 weeks. Spay/neuter recommended or waiver required.

We are also thrilled to welcome reptiles! One at a time please, please contact 15 days ahead for availability.

We do understand emergencies happen and if we can help we will. Just ask.

A tip for those about to bring their dogs to new situations this holiday:

Muzzles are NOT the worst thing in the world when used properly. Don’t use one that holds the mouth entirely closed for longer than a few minutes, instead opt for a basket muzzle.

Dogs cannot be expected to love every single other creature they come across, don’t just assume that because you love your sister’s dog, that your dog will love them too.

Let the dogs meet outside on neutral territory. Foisting a dog into not only new territory but the territory of another dog, is not going to be easy on your pup.

Do not be afraid to separate and keep apart. Not every dog wants to make friends.

When they bare teeth, give whale eyes (showing the whites a lot), raise fur, or growl, REMOVE THEM FROM THE SITUATION THAT IS UPSETTING THEM. This is how a dog communicates their discomfort before they bite.

Understand that your dog may need that first night to decompress at least, bringing a crate or giving them a room to themselves for a while isn’t a bad thing.

Thank you to everyone who reached out with interest in taking on North.

Puppy Protective Services and myself are committed to only placing safe dogs in the public. We are committed to making sure that the animal is the right fit for the family. I don’t do this a lot, and so when I do sometimes get an animal I try to get to know them myself before even processing any sort of interest in the animal.

Unfortunately, North is not suitable to be placed in any home, under any circumstances. We appreciate all the interest, and everyone who reached out. Happy holidays to everyone and keep an eye out for future rescue opportunities.

Possibly fostering our first dog come 2022! Will be open to a good home come April 15th, 2022.

We will be training her! All shots and vaccinations will be up to date. She will be fixed.

Meet North!

She is just the sweetest 1 year old husky girl in the whole of Hampton Roads, Virginia! Friendly to other dogs and kids, she needs a bit of extra attention due to that high energy level. She has just the sweetest temperament, wanting to make friends with everyone she sees.

She will come trained and with all of her supplies. Will be willing to crate train.

Every time you buy from a small business you don’t just support a person. You support a dream.

My dream is to stop senseless euthanization of animals. In the state of NJ there are 2 no kill shelters.

There were 15,340 cats and dogs euthanized in 2015 here. That’s 1/5 animals who entered the shelter.

At the end of this mission, I’ll be able to save at least a handful of animals from death. Even just a few makes a difference.

Want to know why a future rescue is making dog treats? Because being a nonprofit is expensive work!
