Meet Ghost! Ghost is a two year old German Shepherd recently rescued from the National Mill Dog Rescue. She’s afraid of everything, even on walks! So she’s in training to learn some obedience and gain confidence so she can go out into the world with her family! We had her first session yesterday of Basic Obedience Level 1 on/off leash, and she did great!

Meet Barkley and Leeloo! They’re signed up for one week of boarding with Basic Obedience 1 on leash while their people go out of town this month. They both pull on the leash, bark a lot, and don’t like it when people come in the door. Leeloo also has some reactivity to trucks and other dogs. On leash builds the foundation for off leash, because most people don’t want to keep a leash on their dog in the house!

What a weekend of lasts! 💔 Last group class and pack walk on the water. So glad Shadow, Titan, Kibou, Jupiter, and Loki were able to join us this weekend to say goodbye. I’ll miss all of you, and everyone else we didn’t get to say goodbye bye to! 😢

But stay in touch! I still want to know what’s going on with you and your dog, and if either of you end up in Colorado! 💜

Down staying on the floorboard of the front seat is something we recommend for dogs who have car anxiety or get motion sick. For Kibou the puppy, it’s a beginner skill for service dog training. And I must say, she’s rocking it!

A well-trained dog can go almost anywhere with you! Dean got to go to Lake Tahoe last weekend. He hiked A LOT (off-leash trained ✅) and got to play in the snow (his favorite). It was a great trip and we can’t wait to go back someday.

Meet Kiki! Kiki is a three year old Pitbull who’s boarding and training because she chases people as they leave the house and has even bitten two people. Kiki’s training is made possible through Team Trainers to the Rescue Group (TTRG).

TTRG is our foundation that allows people who desperately need to get their dogs trained but can’t afford it. Because our goal is to keep dogs in their safe and happy homes. So always ask your trainer if you apply in the evaluation!

Congrats Bruno on completing your on/off leash training program! You did great with all your distraction work! Bruno is one of my puppy clients who didn’t do it all at once, he split it up. Started on leash in September, then did off leash a couple months after finishing that in January. And that’s an option! But you definitely want to do off leash so your dog doesn’t have to drag the leash around the house for you to have influence, and so you can attend group classes and pack walks, for free!

Pack walk on the beach today! Going to beaches in the winter months to avoid the summer crowds. Sadly the weather kept most of our grads away but Titan and his mom made it and so we walked!

Meet Kibou! Kibou is a 3 month old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix. She’s enrolled in Basic Obedience Level 2 on/off leash because her mom dreams of making her a therapy or service dog! She came to us after her roommate Titan completed his training. She has to be just like him (or better!).

Kibou may be young, but there’s no such thing as too young for training! She hasn’t had all her vaccines yet so we won’t be going out in public until she has. Stay tuned to watch Kibou grow!

Even if you don’t want to board your dog when training, you can board your dog after training with me when you go out of town. This way the training is reinforced, and your dog stays in practice. Heck, Ernie learns something new every time he boards with me! (He’s a young working breed, he needs to work!) do I teach his people what he learns? Not if it’s part of a program they haven’t signed up for! 😉😉
