Update on Monica!! She is a senior girl now and has had a bit of health issues the past several months. She has mast cell cancer of her "girl parts" but has lived years due to excellent care of her foster family (Linn and Gary Vaught). She had to have her tail amputated and is on monthly joint supplements now to help her mobility. ARFF MO has 5 senior dogs in our care and health expenses seem to increase as we get older! We have a Paypal link on our web page www.arffmo.org if you feel you want to donate to Monica"s care. Thanks!

Navin is in need of a new home! It has proven to be impossible to find a rental unit that will accept a 150 pound dog. That said, we are still trying to find a place for Navin. He is 3 years old and lived with a small dog since a pup. Family was in a rent to own home and that fell through due to original owner of the home (his wife wants it now instead of selling it). We are running out of time. DNA shows Dobie/Rottie mix. If you can help, please contact ARFF MO at 660-248-2733.

While all types of vehicular heatstroke deaths are preventable, the third leading cause of these deaths — knowingly leaving a child — is the most preventable. Never leave a child alone in a parked car, even with the windows rolled down or the air conditioning on. A child’s body temperature can rise three to five times faster than an adult’s. Parents and caregivers, get in the habit of always looking inside your car before locking the doors. Remember: Park. Look. Lock. And always ask yourself, "Where's Baby?

Jerome Horwitz, famous for playing CURLY in "THE THREE STOOGES", was known to all as a protector of dogs. Curly's contract with Columbia Pictures included a clause that allowed his dogs to accompany him on the studio lot. Columbia limited it to no more than two dogs at a time, this due to the puppies' unplanned on-camera appearances from time to time. You can still see those surprise dog on set invasions in the first few short films. Typically surrounded by various dogs, Curly was known to come home with a stray dog and foster it until he could find it a permanent home. When the Stooges were out on the road, Curly took it upon himself to find a new home for at least one stray dog in every town they visited. Curly is estimated to have saved and rescued more than 5,000 dogs in his lifetime. This makes him a man ahead of his time, with a very admirable concern for man's best friend. Dogs are family ❤
