Angie & Millie are supporting their mom, Melanie with and are so excited about their new pumpkin peanut butter treats. Augie and Millie were both adopted from us as puppies and living their best lives and are loving their homemade treats. HAPPY ADOPTION DAY for our handsome guy Kane! We are so excited that Kane has found his FURever home. This sweet family adopt Chai (now Noodle) from us in the early part of 2023 and has now added Kane to their family. Our hearts are so happy for him and know how loved he is going to be with a shot at having some kind of normal life.
All dogs we rescue have their own story that we usually know nothing about. They tell us a lot by their behavior and Kane was obviously mistreated and had absolutely no trust in humans when we took him in. We have worked with him continuously and patiently for well over half the year to build up his trust and confidence. He has come a long way and know he will only continue to grow now that he has other furry siblings and loving humans to help him. All our rescues are special to us and deserve a chance but there are a few that leave paw prints embedded on our hearts and Kane is one of those.

Yesterday Tallulah Noodles celebrated her 5th birthday! She was adopted from us in 2018. Here is what her human had to say about her:
“She has the best personality, and keeps us laughing. She is a little thief lol. Her favorite thing to do is take your sock, shoe or her sister’s balls to get you to play chase. She loves car rides and long trips! She loves her fur baby sister NOLA but loves kitties more than anything so we adopted a kitty just for her. She is so loving and happy! She brings us so much joy and we are grateful for Bark and Roll Rescue. 💗 Thank you for all you do for these fur babies!”

Dogs absolutely remember! This is our amazing leader that devoted so much of her time nurturing JJ (Survi) back to a healthy weight and got him in a good place to be adopted. She ran into him yesterday at the groomers and they were both excited to see one another. JJ is thriving with his new human that absolutely loves and spoils him. Sometimes we get sad updates and that is what happened about ten days ago. This is Lovey that was adopted from us in 2018. Sadly she suddenly developed congestive heart failure and had to be put down. She loved jeep rides and always wanted to go everywhere with her mom. We received the sad news from her family that said “She was loved on until the very end. We are so thankful for our time with her. Today was heartbreaking. Thank you for bringing her to us.”
Captured the sight of a beautiful rainbow this morning on the way to work and thought about Lovey. Thank you to Lovey’s family for adopting her and loving her unconditionally. Thought we would share a picture of JJ (formerly Survi) showing off his modeling skills! This sweet guy totally won the lottery when he was adopted. He is doing incredibly well and living his best life. His human absolutely loves him and he is quite spoiled and we are totally okay with that. Timing is everything, and in JJ’s case timing from being found and being in the right place at the right time to meet his human played a significant part in the outcome of his future. Kane is patiently waiting for his forever home. He is approximately three years old and displays a shy and quiet disposition. Kane is super gentle and although he is very timid, he does warm up but will require some patience and lots of love. Pickle thinks today is a terrific Tuesday as she is waking up with her new FURever family. Pickle has been adopted! It’s a happy Monday for one of our rescues. Chloe found her forever home!! She is now an Acadiana girl with two four-legged brothers! See, all Mondays after a long weekend are not bad. So happy for sweet Chloe who found such a loving big family to join.🐾❤️
Tomorrow is the 4th of July and a day most of our four legged friends hate. More pets go missing and end up lost or in shelters on this day. Please make sure to be aware of your pets needs as fireworks can be scary for them. Here are a few good tips to remember for tomorrow during fireworks.🎇🎆
~ Secure fences & exit doors.
~Never leave your pet unattended outside.
~ Walk or exercise your pets early before the fireworks begin.
~ Leave pets inside in a safe quiet space.
~ Music or white noise can help soothe pets during stressful situations.
~ Make sure your pet has on a collar, tag or is microchipped with their up to date information.
~ Give them their favorite toys to play with.
~ Have current photos of your pets on hand just in case they get loose.
~ Refill anti-anxiety medication ahead of time.
~ Clean up fireworks debris.

Meet Chloe. She is a dachshund, terrier mix. Her owner had a heart attack and died unexpectedly so she is mourning as well as had horribly infected ears so she is currently in a good bit of pain. Dixie & Elsie are siblings that were both adopted from us here at Bark and Roll. Well, soon they will be getting a little human sibling to kiss on and play with. Monday’s feature is Louie that was adopted from us in May of 2022. Here is the message we received from Louie’s mom.
“Good morning, I would like to send an update on Louie. He is living his very best life with us and is so very spoiled. He is the best dog ever! We adopted him in May of 2022 and these are just a few of the pics of his daily life. He absolutely loves car rides, squeals when we open the door for him to chase away the raccoons (we make sure they are clear of the fenced in area before letting him out), and he will guide us where he wants us to go outside of the fenced area. He loves to lay on the front porch and roam around the yard. He’s a good listener and stays within his boundaries that are set when he is outside of the fenced area. Most of all, he loves to be cuddled. His favorite spot is next to his mom on the sofa.”
Thank you for loving Louie and giving him the best life he could have. He is adorable and looks like he is enjoying his life to the fullest.
Today it’s officially summer and extremely hot here in Louisiana. Remember to keep your furry friends in mind while outdoors soaking up the beautiful hot days of summer as the pavement can get really hot on those sweet paws. A good rule to follow is the seven-second rule. If it is too hot for you, it is too hot for them. If you find it very hot to your hand or bare feet, more than likely it is too hot for their tender paws. Hot weather is hard on dogs from their feet to their body temperature.
Summer Tips:
~ Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when the weather is cooler.
~ Take cool/cold water with you especially on longer walks.
~ Avoid long walks on pavements, the hot pavement can increase body temperature which can lead to heat stress or heat stroke.
~ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion or heat strokes. Some examples would be seeking shade, nausea, excessive or thickening saliva, difficulty breathing, refusing to drink, etc.
Plenty of water and cool conditions will keep your furry companion happy. Take frequent breaks, stay hydrated and just take it easier on those hottest summer days. Your four-legged friends will thank you.☀️🐾

Another weekend has gone by and Kane is still looking for his forever home. He is 3 years old, house broken and crate trained and great with other dogs. He is a little skittish around new people but if you have a little bit of patience, he warms up and does fine. He has had a rough start at life and deserves a little unconditional love in his life. Kane also has an incredible amount of love for Cheez Its so he would be a great snacking companion. Things happen for a reason and this is one of them. Both Mary & Survi just happened to be at the same place at the same time both by accident and the rest is happy ever after. A little happiness and Survi update on this Wednesday morning. Survi has been checked out by the vet and didn’t have to be admitted to their hospital for any overnight stay. He only weighs in at 27 lbs and should be around 50-60 lbs. Blood work looked pretty good, he is heart worm negative, has a nasty ear infection and intestinal parasites. We will continue his feedings every 3-4 hours. He is on crate rest so he doesn’t burn too many calories as we start to build up his body mass. He is getting little potty breaks and crate snuggles every 2-3 hours after meals. We would like to thank everyone that has donated, sent checks, shared his story and prayed for Survi. You guys were able to cover his medical testing and current medicines. He still has a long way to go but on the right path now for sure. We have tried to thank each one of you personally so sorry if we missed a few. PayPal wouldn’t allow us to thank you in their app. You have restored our faith in humanity. Survi is a happy guy and along with us he wants to say thank you for your giving hearts, just look at that happy tail. We will continue to update on his progress throughout his journey. Update on our sweet Stevie!
We are partnering with Iberville Parish Shelter and Animal Control and Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter to help sweet Stevie. She was surrendered after the storm because her owners lost their home. Stevie is only 7 months old but has had a rough start. She is blind, has some neurological stuff going on as well as a systemic infection. We are hoping the infection is the cause of the neuro issues and not some sort of previous head trauma. If so once she finishes her multiple antibiotics she should show some improvements. This little girl’s recovery is going to be long and expensive but how could we say no to her sweet little face! Hopefully we can get in with a puppy neurologist next week to see what exactly is going on in that cute little head! We will try to share daily updates to keep everyone up to date on this darling girl!
