Forever Hounds Trust are thrilled to release news of a project we have been advising on over the past year.

A new and emerging German based motorbike company called Avinnalaff approached us, asking for our greyhound expertise in the production of a brand new motorbike called The Greyhound. The Greyhound is set to be the very first bike of its kind, and features:

🐾 A stunning body modelled on the beautiful sleek lines of a greyhound
🐾 LED headlight eyes subtly integrated into the face
🐾 Handlebar ears, which can be extended when the bike is in use for safety
🐾 Reduced engine noise to represent the quiet nature of a greyhound
🐾 Despite it's look, a top speed of 45 mph to match that of a real greyhound
🐾 A hidden GPS tracker, so you know where your bike is at any time.

As this bike has been designed to specifically promote rescue greyhounds, and in particular Forever Hounds Trust, in line with our vision that greyhound racing is phased out In the UK, any buyer will have to sign a disclaimer committing to the following:

🐾 The bike will NOT be modified and used on any racetrack at any time
🐾 The bike will be loved and cared for at all times
🐾 The bike will be kept inside when not in use.

This is just a first glance of this beautiful and exciting new product, more details will be released in due course.

In addition, Dr. Mason will discuss ways in which our GreyT community can get involved in helping us find better treatment options for this disease. There will be an update on the research Dr. Mason is currently conducting at the University of Pennsylvania. A live Q&A will follow the webinar.

Some good advice!

While it may be tempting to give your dog a nibble (or three) while you're making Thanksgiving dinner, it's essential to be mindful of their sensitive tummies and palettes. Our dogs don't have the same digestion system as we humans do, and some foods can be toxic for them. Your dog will thank you for following these rules for a safe Thanksgiving meal 🍽
-----
First things first: it's important to note that while some Thanksgiving ingredients won't hurt your dog, it's still best to best to proceed with caution. As with any treat, they should be fed in moderation and just on special occasions because giving too much of a food that your dog isn't used to may cause illness and may not be healthy for them in large amounts.

In general, dogs can eat a few nibbles of
-Plain turkey: cooked and unseasoned
-Sweet potato: high in fiber and good for the GI system when plain and unseasoned
-Cranberries: small portions without lots of sugar (ie. no canned cranberry sauce)
-Green beans: served plain and raw, steamed, canned or frozen
-Pumpkin: small portion of plain pumpkin, no pies or pie filling
-Corn: cooked, unseasoned, and removed from the cob
-Apples: plain and portioned appropriately with no core, stem, or seeds

Dogs should not have
-Turkey Skin, Bones, and Drippings: choking hazard and high-fat content can lead to stomach upset, diarrhea, and pancreatitis
- Stuffing: nearly all of the ingredients can cause trouble in your dog's digestive system including garlic, onion, butter, and herbs
- Xylitol: a sugar substitute that can cause a dramatic drop in their blood sugar and cause acute liver failure in dogs.

Have a safe, happy, and healthy holiday! 🦃

The Love of a Greyhound

Greyhounds are the most amazing creatures I’ve ever met. They have taught me to be selfless. They don’t ask for much besides the basics; safety, health and a home. I’m so happy to say I find joy in being able to provide all that and so much more. Giving them the gift of life is such a precious gift.
