Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge’s Cadillac “Dog Wagons”

Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge was an animal lover and she founded the Morris & Essex Kennel Club.

Her “Dog Wagons” were built on extended 1939 Cadillac “Sixty Special” chassis. The two cars, six and eight door limousines, fitted with coachwork by an unknown maker, were used to transport her show dogs.

It is a special Cadillac with a 200-inch wheelbase; the interior has ample accommodations for eight dogs to ride in comfort. The cages are made of duralumin and built as part of the car although they are removable if it is desired to take them out.

Mike Foley and his Palmetto Creek Kennels & Gundogs pup Cane (Riparian Ghostrider QA2 x HRCH Foxy MH) with a Senior pass at a test in their home state of MI. The rest of Mike’s crew did well too with passes in Senior and Master. Mike and his wife Nancy come down in the winter to train at Palmetto. We enjoy their visits!!

Elvis helps to wind the school year down being our feature today! Elvis came to us as a pup with his brother, Presley from Palmetto Creek Kennels & Gundogs in Louisiana.

Elvis works in the North Texas area with his handler, Rolando, who says: "Elvis reminds everyone around him that even as adults we still have that childlike spirit in us! His youthful energy while on the job always inspires me to have fun while at work. I really could not ask for a better partner."

SHR Haddie- congrats to her and her owner, Shawn! They are continuing to BOTH get ready to run seasoned in a few weeks. A little fun in started along way as a confidence builder after a great hunting season!

We had to drop the water in our technical pond to do some repairs to the overflow. We took advantage of the ”low tide” to taper some of the channels to make exiting the water easier for the dogs and cut some snags for safety!

Our new technical pond is finished and full of water! This has been a long project but was worth the investment. Points, channels, pockets and open water in the nearly 2 acre training pond provide many opportunities for young dogs as well as teaching the old dogs new tricks!
