Two former HHAS kitties, Toffee (dark and white) and Butterscotch (orange and white) are sharing a home with two brothers and very loving parents! They are definitely loving life with their forever family! 😽
MESSI (DOB 4/23/23) is a friendly, confident fella that also has a “chill” side to him. While he can be active and energetic, playing with toy mice and chasing balls, he also loves to hang out in the cat tree and observe everything going on around him.
MESSI is also a sweetheart; loving to get pets and brushed. He just needs a little “me time” when it’s time to eat.
This personable guy would make a great companion and fit into almost any home. MESSI seems to like other cats, so having a feline buddy would be fine. We have not seen him interact with dogs, but he may be okay with a cat-friendly dog, if properly introduced.

Check out LOUISE! (DOB 11/3/19) Meow! I’m an independent, smart young lady, who definitely needs my personal space. I don’t need a lot of attention, but I love having a good conversation, especially if it’s about my dinner!
I love to watch what is going on outside and tend to get very animated when I spot something interesting. I also like to play with catnip toys and chase string toys, which get me excited faaaaast.
I enjoy being brushed, and I love having my ears rubbed, followed by yummy treats. Wait until you hear me purr!
Louise needs a fur-ever home with an experienced cat owner that will tolerate an occasional outburst of nipping. She would do best with no other cats. She has been around a small dog, so she may be fine with a small dog, if properly introduced.

ABBY (DOB 4/2/19) is a people-person, so to speak. She LOVES being around humans who will give her love and attention. To get that affection, ABBY is very friendly!
ABBY is also very curious; she loves to sit by a window and watch the birds and other creatures outside. Besides for the aforementioned love and attention, this is her second favorite hobby!
While ABBY loves people, she is NOT a fan of other cats and should be the only pet in the household. Because of her friendly nature, she should be good in a house with older children.

MAX (DOB 4/1/12) is a confident, friendly gent that enjoys getting pet (especially under the chin), soaking up the sunshine (especially on the stairs), and being brushed (anywhere, anytime). He also enjoys lap time with his foster dad.
MAX’s favorite toys are simple strings, clotheslines, and shoelaces – it really doesn’t take much to make this guy happy. He is calm and quiet until he gets an inkling that foster mom is heading upstairs where his Party Mix treats are kept. Then, he runs up the stairs and chirps & trots down the hall to his room waiting to be served a tasty morsel.
MAX currently lives in a foster home with a female cat. While they tolerate each other, it appears he would prefer to live in a one-cat household. A cat-savvy dog or older children would be good company for him. Due to his age, MAX has kidney function issues that require a kidney-support diet and hydration every two days. Of all the people looking for a pet, are you the special person who’s the right fit for special MAX? This good guy would be a devoted companion.

We already have a wonderful update from Penny's new family - after just 24 hours! This makes our hearts happy! 😽❤️ "Within the first two hours of being at the house she came out, was being super friendly and explorative. She’s been an absolute joy to live with and she’s such a good cat!"
SID (DOB 6/1/12) sure has a lot of spunk for an “old” guy! He likes to “hunt” mice and fish on YouTube, climb pillow mountains, and contemplate shadow puppets. When it’s time to play, SID will get his foster mom’s attention, then gallop away at high speed with his tail in the air for a game of hide-and-seek. He also LOVES chasing stringy toys -- he’ll chase a rainbow whip toy around-and-around the house. But shoe laces are the most fun. His foster family isn’t sure if he’s really following them around the house or if he’s just going after their shoe laces! SID likes to meet new people and hang out with his human companions. He’s not much of a snuggler, but he does like to be near and sleep with his buddies. When it’s time to relax, he loves head rubs and cheek scratches. SID also enjoys traveling by car, when he can look out the window, which engages his curious nature. SID would do well in a moderately active home. New environments make him anxious, likely because he is deaf and changes and sudden movements may startle him. He would need a family that would allow him time to adjust. Once he does, he’d be a great companion. A home with older children and other cats would be fine as long as they are properly introduced. SID has not been observed interacting with dogs, so it’s unknown how he’d react to them. HHAS was thrilled to accept a $5,000 donation from the Meijer store in Bolingbrook this morning! 😊 The store director and many others were thrilled to see Crystal’s kittens, who also came for the event. They were happy to be there (except during the clapping). 😉 You'll see some pictures and a couple videos here. With so many non-profits in the area that they could choose from, they chose Humane Haven! THANK YOU Meijer!
Another update on Pogo (fka Butterball)! We are SO happy to hear this and know he's living his best - and funniest - life! ❤️ He has definitely made himself at home. He is always around, no matter where we are in the house, he’s there with you! He loves people so much and anyone who meets him falls in love and wants to steal him from me! He’s comfortable around the dogs now, even sitting next to them and sleeping by them! He has turned into quite a busy boy, especially at night. Recently we discovered a new thing he loves to do… For a bit we couldn’t figure out why our dogs water bowl was always a mess lately. Come to realize it’s Pogo! He has been playing in the water bowl! It is the goofiest thing we’ve ever seen from a cat! 😹 Long story short, we are so in love with this little guy and his huge personality that has finally shown through. He still sleeps with me every night and we have grown such a beautiful bond! Thank you for the silliest, goofiest cat! 😽😺
SAM (DOB 6/7/20) is such a nice, confident, and entertaining guy. It’ll be a very lucky family that scoops him up! SAM is super friendly – he just wants to meet everyone and say “hello” by rubbing on legs and “asking” for pets and attention. Besides communicating by rubbing on his people companions, he is quite vocal telling his caretakers all about his day. SAM is still young, so he loves to play, especially with stringy toys and sparkly balls; but he really isn’t picky – he just wants to be with you! SAM would be happiest in an active home and as the only adult male cat. He does well with female cats, and he was great with male & female kittens when they shared a home. He’d probably love a dog to play with. His fun-loving attitude would make him an ideal pet for children, too. Sometimes our temp house mom, who is caring for Mandy's kittens, becomes part of the jungle gym for these active little kittens! They are such a sweet and fun litter of kittens - affectionate, energetic, and silly. Just loads of fun to watch and play with! We have an adoption event happening December 10th and 11th at the Petsmart in Bolingbrook from noon - 3 pm - and these kittens will be there! BUTTERBALL (DOB 10/6/19) is a calm and VERY sweet boy who loves attention and kittens. Around Thanksgiving, he was hit by a car, which broke his hip resulting in nerve damage to and amputation of his right rear leg. BUTTERBALL is doing great adjusting to life on three legs! With time, experience, and the appropriate environment, BUTTERBALL will continue to adapt. The best environment for him would be a home with carpeted/rugged rooms, which would make it easier for him to walk around. In addition, he would benefit from ramps or stairs to help him get to sofas, etc. Weight watching is a must, since excess weight could make it harder for him to be mobile on three legs. He’d likely do best in a quiet-to-moderately active home. BUTTERBALL shares his temp home with kittens, who he likes to nuzzle and play with their paws.
