Hello, Everyone! I appreciate all of the interest in my heirloom tomatoes!!! (I had 62 different varieties last year.) Due to COVID and all the rules relating to it, I won't be selling fresh tomatoes at the Farmer's Markets this year. I have them again this year...but COVID has made retail sales unworkable for me. As a result, the 2020 crop will only be used for seed production and selling seeds...and my own BLT sandwiches! Let's all hope that by next year, we have a vaccine or COVID just burns itself out or somehow goes away. Thanks, again, for all of the interest. Stay safe and healthy. -Maxx

The tomato farm is officially disassembled and sleeping - it's the end of the 2019 season. I got help from my sister (Donna) and my big female mastiff (Xena).

Last Friday was the first snow in Anoka/Ramsey that stuck around for more than half an hour. I got some shots of what's left of the tomato garden and of my big mastiff, Xena, being nosey. I actually found an edible tomato, a big Yellow Brandywine. Late in the year...but it tasted great.

We just had our first snow flurries of the year about an hour ago. And I still have a few living tomato plants with some viable fruit! Today I harvested a one pound Pineapple Tomato.

It's 7:00am and there's heavy rain. And it's supposed to continue raining the first part of the day. As a result, reluctantly, I won't be going to the market this morning. The last tomatoes of the year will be donated to the ABC Food Shelf in Anoka, MN. Thank you for a great 2019 season! -Maxx

Where did the summer go? It went by so quickly! Tomorrow is the last St. Luke's Farmer's Market of the 2019 season. It's supposed to be rainy and cool. I'll be there with the last of my tomato crop. I have 24 varieties that are still alive (out of a total of 62). But the quantities are extremely limited. So if you have a favorite, come early. I hope I see tomorrow. Bring a jacket!

It's cold & rainy...but I'll be spending daylight hours harvesting tomatoes for tomorrow's St. Luke's Farmer's Market. The "Amana Orange" and the "Cherokee Green" are still alive and going strong. The "Black Elephant" tomato plants, however, are dead and totally done for the year.
