Hawke and his pasture buddy’s.
A brumby, a quarter horse and a mustang. We like variety around here.
Lope around good ✅. Big stop ✅. Lope over poles with ease ✅. Break gait because you are out of shape and lazy ✅
Everyone guessed it right!
Hawke was PERFECT for his first ride back in 2 months.
He was also introduced to tracking the new calf sled. Our plans for him is for him is for him and Sarah Chastain to both learn breakaway!
The second part of the video is hard to see but he did a great job tracking, stopping and being patient while they both learned his new job 😂

We were under a severe thunderstorm and trying to get the video in so it wouldn’t be late! I’ll be making a much better video than this next week.
Hawke is broke and knows the basics
Walk, Gait, lope, stop.
He’s starting to really get the hang of correctly moving his body.
And his lope becomes slower and nicer every ride
Hawke has seen a good bit of trail miles and a lot of horse shows.
He’s been exposed to a lot
Obstacles, screaming kids, tracking the hot heels, traffic, dragging the sled etc….
He is getting good at his lay down trick just needs to learn to go down with more grace.
Hawke doesn’t have many flaws.
He likes attention, easy to catch, wants to please.
He snorts. That’s about his only flaw is if he’s unsure about it he sounds like a dragon, won’t bolt, spook or anything just snorts at it.

Video from yesterday that it wouldn’t let me upload. #hopteamhawke has been exposed to traffic a few times. On this road particularly it’s full of loud fast traffic and he never bats an eye.

I cannot get much to upload so enjoy this short video of him loping off and stopping off of Jonathan’s seat without him touching the reins.
Hawke is coming along so nicely and is a barn favorite.
One of the easiest horses to train and is so willing.
He now knows the basics of riding walk, gait, lope all on a loose rein.
Stop off of your seat and he’s working on some body control.
I’m three days he’s almost got the laying down trick down pat!
There’s not much downfalls about Hawke besides he snorts for no reason and he still needs a click of weight but he’s gaining so nicely.
We are super proud of this guy.

Hawkes 6th ride
Sarah Chastain hauled Jasmine to a new arena today and Hawke joined her just to tag along for some obstacles.
He has some gaulde from the cinch so the little bit of riding Jonathan did on him today was bareback.
I didn’t get a video of him doing the rest of the obstacles but it’s safe to say he was a rockstar on them all.
He also got to meet Gavin Huffman today who joined us as well!
Gavin brought his really nice Extreme Mustang Makeover mare!
Gavin is also apart of the Appalachian Trainer Face Off!

Training on Princess Jasmine and HOP Hawke today. A BLM mustang and an Appalachian Brumby.
Hawke had the day off yesterday so this is day 6 of training.
Did a good bit of loping with him today.
The next couple of days we will work on getting him used to the bit and riding outside of the pen.
