Meet Lil’ Lyle 🐾
This sweet, shy boy is looking for a loving home where he can feel safe and loved. Lil’ Lyle was surrendered along with other cats and has lived with an older woman, so we don’t know how he’d do with dogs or children. What we do know is that he’s a gentle soul who just needs some time to decompress and adjust to new surroundings.
If you’re patient, kind, and ready to give this sweet boy the space and love he needs, Lil’ Lyle will reward you with endless affection. 🐱💛

I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!
Meet Rosco! 🐾
This big, sweet guy is Rosco, a six-year-old stray who found his way to us and is now looking for his forever home. We don’t know much about his past, but what we do know is that he’s an oversized baby who loves attention and has a heart full of love to give.
We’ve heard Rosco is great with kids, but beyond that, we’re still getting to know him. What we can promise is that this gentle giant is ready to meet someone who will give him the love and stability he deserves.
If you’re looking for a big buddy to add some joy to your life, stop by and meet Rosco. No appointment is needed—just swing by and see if this lovable guy is the perfect fit for your family. Adoption Fee: $175

Update: These boys have been adopted 💙💙
When I took this video at the shelter, these two completely melted my heart. They were so affectionate and sweet, clearly loving every moment of being around people.
Lu (the slightly bigger one) and his brother Clay share an incredible bond. They’ve grown up together as best friends, and the shelter is dedicated to keeping them together in their forever home. Their connection is truly special, and they’re ready to bring double the love and joy to the family that welcomes them. ❤️
These handsome boys are:
✔️ Neutered
✔️ Microchipped
✔️ Vaccinated
✔️ 100% ready for their forever family
If you’re looking to add not one, but two affectionate and loving companions to your life, come meet Lu and Clay! They’re waiting to be part of your family. ❤️
Look at this happy girl! 🥰
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to everyone who donated to our Wishlist Wednesday. Your generosity makes such a huge difference, and as you can see, Stella is absolutely loving her new enrichment toy! These moments of joy are all thanks to you.
Now, let me tell you a little more about Stella. This sweet, smart, and energetic 2-year-old has been with us for 5 months and 3 weeks. Shelter life is hard for any animal, especially one like Stella who is so ready for a loving home.
If you’re looking for an adventure buddy who’s always up for a game of fetch, a hike, or just some good company, Stella is your girl! She’s loyal, playful, and full of potential. But she does have a strong prey drive (no squirrels, cats, or small animals for her) and would do best with an experienced owner who can guide her with patience and structure.
Stella is an amazing dog who just needs someone to give her the chance she deserves. If you’re thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, come meet Stella and all the other wonderful animals here at the shelter. They’re waiting for their forever homes—and maybe it’s with you! Adoption Fee: $0 thanks to a wonderful sponsor!
Thank you again for your continued support. You’re helping us change lives every single day! ❤️

You’re going to want to read this.
This past July, a sweet dog named Mayo arrived at the Humane Society of Midland County as a stray. From the moment he came through our doors, he stole our hearts. He was the kind of dog who made you laugh without even trying—so happy, lovable, and full of life. Yet, as the weeks passed, we couldn’t understand why he was still with us.
Finally, in late summer, Mayo was adopted, and we thought his story had its happy ending. But in December, our hearts broke all over again. Mayo was returned to us—frail, sad, and scared. He was a shadow of the joyful dog we once knew. We later learned he had been sold on Craigslist by the person who adopted him. What Mayo went through during that time, we may never fully know. All we knew was that it left him broken, unsure of himself, and hesitant to trust.
Seeing him like this was devastating. Shelter life can be hard enough for animals, but to watch one of the happiest souls we’ve known return to us in such a state—it was almost too much to bear. But Mayo didn’t give up, and neither did we.
We shared his story on social media, posted him on Petfinder, and worked tirelessly every day to help him heal. Slowly, he started coming out of his shell and with time, we began to see glimmers of the dog he once was.
Then, a miracle happened. A woman saw a video we posted of Mayo and came into the shelter, convinced he might be her lost dog, Aries. Months earlier, she had searched for him and even visited the shelter, but at that time, Mayo hadn’t yet arrived. The stars aligned that day, and as soon as we brought Mayo out, everything changed. His eyes lit up, his tail wagged furiously, and he ran straight to her as if no time had passed. Watching the joy and recognition in both of their faces was nothing short of magical. For the first time in months, Mayo’s spirit was fully alive again
It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do. Working in a shelter is not easy. We
