We want to be a part of the amazing things that are going on in our urban communities. The LSU AgCenter has long been known for research and extension programs in the rural areas of our state. But we have so much to offer the more densely populated urban communities as well. Look to us for resources, industry connections, educational programs and much more. We greatly look forward to hearing from you on ideas of how we can be of assistance in your urban programs, projects and businesses.

Roses continue to be one of our most popular ornamental plants, and home gardeners should learn about and be aware of recommended management practices for them, said LSU AgCenter horticulturist Allen Owings.

Although they come in many types, basic care is the same for most roses. Keys to success include correct sunlight conditions, ideal soil pH, proper pruning, regular fertilization, proper mulching, disease management and insect control.
