Female doing her final molt to become a mature adult, about 5 weeks since she hatched from an egg. Each size between molts is called an instar. This species, Gryllodes sigillatus, has about 7 or 8 instars before they are mature adults. The only real difference between their nymph instars and the adult is that the males get wings in their final instar and females develop their ovipositor, which is what they deposit their eggs into the ground with. Females have a couple instars before they are mature where the ovipositor begins to develop, it’s far too long to fully form in one instar, it wouldn’t fit inside their previous exoskeleton.
