Dobby is excited to share this poem about holiday safety tip #5 (number 4 is on Instagram so go there to check it out: http://bit.ly/TPSInstagram): Cover your tree water basin tightly with aluminum foil and a tree skirt; bacteria from sitting water can make your pet sick.

A water base, a hidden sight,
A breeding ground, a harmful plight.
A foil-sealed lid, a careful guard,
A healthy pet, a sweet reward.
A festive tree, a joyful scene,
A safe and happy holiday queen.

Do you cover your Christmas tree's water basin to prevent your pet from drinking it?

Ari is excited to share this poem about holiday safety tip #3 (number 2 is on Instagram so go there to check it out: http://bit.ly/TPSInstagram): Artificial and live tree needles can be sharp and are indigestible. Pick up needles daily to help prevent your pet from ingesting them.

A Christmas tree, a winter’s dream,
With needles sharp, a hidden scheme.
A watchful eye, a careful hand,
To keep your pet safe, across the land.
A daily sweep, a gentle care,
A peaceful home, beyond compare.

How often do you clean up fallen needles around your Christmas tree ?

Bernie is excited to share this poem about holiday safety tip #1: place your holiday tree in a room that your pet can’t access.

A festive tree, a holiday sight,
Twinkling lights, shining bright.
But keep it safe, a hidden treasure,
Away from paws, beyond their measure.
A room secure, a peaceful place,
A Christmas tree, full of grace.

Do you let your furry friend roam free around your Christmas tree? 🎄🐾 Or do you keep it in a pet-free zone? Share your holiday pet safety tips in the comments below!

Mitch the Greater Swiss Mountain dog, returned to Tailored Pet Services for a cozy Thanksgiving staycation. As soon as she arrived, she claimed her favorite spot on the couch, sinking into a deep sleep. When it was time to rise and shine, she'd gracefully leap onto the master bed, her gentle nudge a subtle reminder that it was time to start the day.

During her stay, Mitch's favorite pastime was keeping an eye on the front door. She'd let out a loud bark whenever a delivery arrived, as if announcing the latest arrival to the household. Over the course of her stay, she "announced" five packages, each one a small adventure in her otherwise peaceful days.

After Thanksgiving, Mitch helped her pet hosts get into the festive spirit. She supervised the decorating process, offering her expert opinion on ornament placement and arrangement of the stockings on the mantle. With Mitch's help, the home was transformed into a winter wonderland.

Mitch's Thanksgiving stay was filled with comfort, relaxation, and a touch of holiday cheer. She returned home, well-rested and content, ready to face the winter months with renewed energy.

How does your dog react when packages are delivered? Post in the comments.

Cass, her short smooth coat an inky dark brown, ran down the stairs and to the door as her walker, Ashley, arrived for their daily outing. The rain had stopped and the quiet, park side Everett neighborhood was slowly stirring back into activity as other walkers and their companions also decided to take the risk of walking beneath the unpredictable gray November skies.

Leashed up and ready to go, the pair made their way down towards the lookout, where a carpet of rich green grass rolled into a view of Puget Sound, where the water lapped distantly against the docks of Everett's port. Despite the cool air, the breeze here was welcome and filled with interesting scents for Cass to explore.

Turning, they made their way into the arboretum, occasionally encountering other pups amongst the winding trails and interesting botanical specimens. It was a nice place for a walk, but the plants weren't terribly interesting for a dog like Cass --that is, until she caught sight of a curiosity bouncing along the ground. It appeared to be a tumbleweed of sorts, and indeed it was --but not of the "Western" or even plant variety! This tumbleweed was made of fur, and had likely been recently brushed from another pup visiting the park. Perhaps it was even left behind so that the wildlife could take advantage of adding some extra warmth to their nests!

Satisfied, and having seen and sniffed the lookout, the arboretum, and her quiet little neighborhood, Cass led Ashley back home, content after a wonderful outdoor adventure.

Brownie was the first to wobble up to her walker, Megan, as she walked through the door. The second to wobble over was Boots. Both dogs, beautiful chocolate Labrador retrievers shared an age difference of at least 10 years, and they both wobbled for different reasons. Boots, because she was over 13 years young. Brownie, because she had only three legs and was still adjusting. With Brownie recently rescued, the unlikely pairing now shared the same home.

Megan gave both Labradors the required scratches and pats, while receiving her allotment of happy kisses as she harnessed both up for their trip outdoors. Late November weather was predictably unpredictable, but they still decided to forgo the raincoats on the chance that the skies would allow them to stay dry.

Normally, Boots was quite a slow goer, and would often lay down to take breaks as she shuffled along. But now there was something of a sibling rivalry going on; Brownie, though young, was a bit slowed down by her wobbliness, and her excitement for the walk inspired Boots to keep walking for longer than normal. Together the trio made it about twice as far as they normally would have had it just been Boots being walked!

Rains had been prevalent in the days before and they had plenty of puddles do dodge (well, at least to attempt to-- Brownie was content to splash right on through!). Not that the Labradors would have likely minded the rain, being canines known for swimming after all.

Both girls were panting contentedly by the time they all returned home, and Boots returned to her favorite spot on the rug, while Brownie demanded a few final pets before their walker slipped out the door.

Schultzy and Cleo, the lively Miniature Schnauzers from North Everett, were thrilled to see me today. Their stubby tails wagged with excitement as they leashed up calmly, eager to head out into the sunshine. We set off at a happy trot, winding our way up Rucker Hill, their prancing steps filled with enthusiasm.

The duo delighted in exploring every sniff-worthy patch along the way, their little noses working overtime. As we crested the hill, the park came into view, and they paused briefly to take in the sights. Alert but well-behaved, they offered a few polite barks at distant dogs and a particularly bold squirrel, but they never lunged or pulled—just a pair of well-mannered pups enjoying the day.

The warm sun made the walk even more enjoyable, casting a golden glow over the nearly still waters of the Sound. As we passed the elegant brick Rucker Mansion with its stunning leaded glass windows, we all paused to take in the serene view before heading back down the hill.

Schultzy and Cleo kept up their cheerful pace all the way home, tails wagging and spirits high. Back at their door, I gave them each a well-deserved pat goodbye, leaving them content and ready to relax after their adventure. 😎

Let's celebrate their love for the great outdoors! Share a photo or video of your dog's happiest moment outdoors.

Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, and food. But while you're enjoying your turkey dinner, it's important to keep your furry friend safe. Many Thanksgiving foods can be harmful to dogs.

Foods to Avoid:
🔸 Canned Cranberry Sauce: The high sugar content can upset your dog's stomach.
🔸 Mashed Potatoes: Often contain butter, milk, or other ingredients that can be harmful to dogs.
🔸 Alcohol: Even small amounts can be toxic to dogs.

Safe Thanksgiving Treats for Dogs:
🔸 Plain Turkey: A small amount of plain, cooked turkey can be a safe treat for your dog.
🔸 Corn (Off the Cob): Corn kernels are a good source of fiber and can be a healthy snack.
🔸 Green Beans (Plain): Green beans are a low-calorie, healthy treat for dogs.

Remember:
🔸 Always consult your veterinarian for specific advice.
🔸 Avoid giving your dog too many treats, especially rich foods.
🔸 Keep a close eye on your dog during and after your Thanksgiving meal.

Caliber, the spirited pup near Woodlawn Park, was raring to go today. With his tail wagging and energy high, he eagerly waited for his leash. Once ready, he set off at a brisk pace, leading the way up and over the hill with determination. The rain had paused just long enough for a fast-paced neighborhood loop, and Caliber was all about making the most of it.

Along the way, we encountered a small off-leash dog. Caliber barked assertively, but with a firm hold on the lead, he stayed by my side. The little dog quickly retreated to its owner’s yard, and we carried on without further incident. True to form, Caliber was alert but well-behaved, only barking at passing dogs and walkers, never lunging—a sure sign of his growing composure.

As we wrapped up the walk, I spotted a coyote creeping up a nearby service road. With a flash of my yellow vest and tossing rocks a few feet from it, I scared it back down the hill, ensuring the path was clear. Back home, I wiped Caliber’s paws before letting him inside, where he could rest and relish the excitement of his outing. Even with the chill in the air, it was another adventure well enjoyed.

Milo and Ruby, the sweet Dachshund duo, were in fine form today. After arriving, I let them out into the backyard for a quick potty break while tidying up a small accident near the blue footstool. Thankfully, the mess was easy to clean with the supplies on hand. Once that was sorted, Milo and Ruby trotted back inside, eager to say hello and get their sniffing duties done.

Ruby, ever the snuggle bug, cozied up beside me on the couch, while Milo, with his curious energy, made his rounds in the living room. Every so often, he’d hop back up for some well-deserved pets before resuming his explorations. I tossed their ball a few times to spark some playtime, but neither seemed particularly interested—they were in full relaxation mode today.

As my visit came to an end, I gave them each a treat, which they happily accepted, tails wagging. Ruby settled into her kennel without a fuss, and Milo looked content as I said goodbye. It was a calm and cozy day with these lovable pups, just as they seemed to prefer.

Rigby, the spirited three-legged boxer of North Everett, never fails to brighten the morning. Today, on Humane Society Anniversary Day, was no exception. As I arrived at his home near Bagshaw Field and North Middle School, he met me at the gate, tail wagging and eyes gleaming, his favorite toy clutched proudly in his jaws. The crisp air had a touch of sun, and Rigby seemed eager to make the most of this special day.

He led the way, setting a steady, confident trot through the familiar blocks. His usual route brought us past friendly neighbors who greeted him warmly. Rigby, ever the gentleman, offered a few hearty barks at a couple of curious birds but surprised me when a squirrel dashed mere feet in front of us. Instead of reacting, he simply watched it scurry up a tree, head tilted as if pondering its agility.

The walk was a mix of focused sniffing and unhurried exploration. Rigby seemed content, savoring the small joys of the journey. Back at home, he eagerly accepted his treat, his tail still wagging in gratitude. It’s walks like these that remind me how even the simplest outings can feel like adventures with a dog as joyful as Rigby. And on a day dedicated to animal welfare, it’s a reminder of the incredible bond between humans and animals.

Thinking of getting a canine companion for your child? 🐶

Today is World Children’s Day, and what better way to celebrate than by bringing joy into a child’s life with a furry companion? 🐾 However, before you dive into the world of puppy paws, it's important to weigh the pros and cons.

This article explores the benefits and challenges of owning a pet with children. Here’s a quick breakdown:

Pros 👍

🔸 Teaches responsibility: Caring for a pet can instill valuable life skills like feeding, walking, and cleaning up after them.
🔸 Encourages an active lifestyle: Pets need exercise, and this can motivate kids to get outside and play.
🔸 Boosts the immune system: Studies suggest that growing up with pets can reduce the risk of allergies and asthma.
🔸 Builds confidence: Children can develop a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem through training and bonding with their pets.

Cons 👎

🔹 Financial commitment: Owning a pet involves ongoing costs for food, veterinary care, and supplies.
🔹 Time commitment: Pets require daily attention, including feeding, walking, and playtime.
🔹 Potential allergies: Some children may be allergic to pet dander or saliva.

Ultimately, the decision to get a pet is a personal one. It’s important to consider your family’s lifestyle, budget, and any potential allergies.

18/11/2024

Oh, what a glorious day it was! The royal highness of Eastmont was Juno, the fairest canine in all the land, was feeling quite regal. Her primary walker, John, was unfortunately indisposed, but fear not, for her loyal subject, Antigone, stepped in to fulfill her royal duties.

The procession began, and Juno, with her crown of fur and tail held high, led the way. She marked her territory with a flourish, a royal decree that all must acknowledge. A curious object, a basketball imprisoned in a pot, caught her eye. She regarded it with a regal gaze, as if pondering a great royal puzzle.

The royal procession continued to the humble abode of the local school. There, she posed for a portrait, her regal bearing evident in every paw. The mere mortals, known as children, scurried about, but she, a princess, was above such trivial pursuits.

The return journey was filled with challenges. A group of commoners, oblivious to her royal presence, dared to approach. With a haughty sniff and a flick of her tail, she turned her nose up at them, a clear sign of her disdain. Let the mere mortals bow before their princess!

Finally, she returned to her royal palace. A feast awaited her, and she devoured it with the grace and elegance befitting a princess. To conclude the day, she engaged in a royal sport, fetch. She chased the ball with the vigor of a lion, her every leap a testament to her royal lineage.

As the mere mortal, Antigone, dared to interrupt her royal game, Juno gave her a look of utter disdain. How could she possibly consider leaving when such important matters were at hand? With a heavy heart, Juno watched as Antigone departed, her royal protestations falling on deaf ears.

15/11/2024

Mango and Chico, the Golden Retriever duo, are a comedy act in motion. As soon as they are leashed, it’s like the starting gun of a race. Mango pulls left. Chico pulls right. They’re both on a mission, and it’s clear they don’t agree on the route.

We stop every couple of minutes—one to catch our breath, the other to check out some mystery in the bushes. It’s all fun and games until they spot a dog, a person, or—heaven forbid—a bird. At that point, I become the unwilling referee in a tug-of-war, both dogs convinced they’re the ones who should lead the charge. I override the decision by keeping them on a short leash—literally and figuratively—while they try to make every walk a grand, unexpected adventure!

But here’s the twist: by the time we hit the last third of the walk, these two have exhausted themselves from all the excitement. The chaos gives way to a blissful, peaceful stroll. They're like different dogs—just happily trotting along, tails wagging in sync.

It’s like Mango and Chico take turns being the comedians and the tired old pros. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way! 😆🐾

Do you sometimes wonder if you are walking the dog or they are walking you? 🐾 Tell us about your dog’s most chaotic walk moments! Share in the comments—let’s bond over our furry adventurers and their unpredictable antics! 😂🐕
