NVA teamed up with American Humane Society to support pets and pet parents impacted by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

Last weekend, five teammates from NVA’s Overland Veterinary Clinic volunteered at a pop-up wellness clinic to examine pets, distribute supplies, and administer vaccinations and medications.

“We stayed until every last pet was seen,” said Rick Guzman, Hospital Manager. "My team’s resilience shines through in moments like these. I’m so proud of them.”

As an organization, we remain committed to the LA community, which 600+ of our teammates and thousands of clients call home.

💙 We made a significant donation to support American Humane Society’s ongoing efforts to deliver critical care and resources on the ground.

💙 We activated our Employees Assistance Fund to support impacted teammates who have been displaced, lost property or incurred personal hardship.

💙 Our Pet Resorts partners are offering free boarding for NVA employees impacted by fires.

We’re so proud of our community whose compassionate spirit shines brightest in times of need.

An abandoned pup helped NVA’s Viewmont Animal Hospital team heal during a difficult year. 🐶💚️

A good Samaritan found an abandoned family of dogs, with one of the puppies in need of medical care. She brought him to NVA’s Viewmont Animal Hospital in North Carolina, where the team was faced with a long list of serious health issues: mange, intestinal parasites, and an infected umbilical hernia.

“He didn't have much hair on him, and the small amount he did have was falling out,” recalls Morgan Alewine, Client Service Representative at Viewmont. “He also smelled awful and was covered in scabs.”

The dog, who they named Rufus, quickly won the hearts of the Viewmont team. After a tough year with Hurricane Helene and the challenge of not being able to be together, Rufus reminded them that joy can come even in the darkest moments. 🌈 “Seeing the team come together to treat Rufus was truly inspiring,” said Melissa Hammer, Hospital Manager. “The positive energy among the staff improved significantly when we began caring for him.” 🙌

Rufus required daily special baths 🛁 to treat his skin condition and soothe his discomfort. Several team members even opened up their homes to foster him while he recovered. As his health continued to improve, Morgan realized she had an undeniable bond with him and decided to adopt him. “It had been a while since I had a dog, but I knew it was meant to be with Rufus,” she said. “He reminded me about the simple joys of being a dog mom, and he's made me feel even more connected to my work.” 🐾💕

Today, thanks to their dedicated care, Rufus is a completely different dog. His once-infected hernia is gone, his skin has healed, and his coat is now soft and shiny. ✨🐕 Most importantly, Morgan says Rufus’ loving, goofy personality has remained unchanged.

“Our commitment to assisting animals, such as Rufus, is a daily source of inspiration for us,” said Melissa. “The positive outcomes stemming from Rufus' treatment further enhance our determination to provide support and care to animals in need.”

The NVA Heroes at Asheville Veterinary Associates West saved a rescue kitten with a rare and life-threatening tumor.

When Hurricane Helene swept through this year, it destroyed the city. However, the team at AVA West remained determined to be there for their . Between power outages, repairs, and road closures, they opened their doors on days they could to care for animals in need.

After a stray feline arrived on their doorstep, she unexpectedly gave birth to six kittens. The smallest among them – which they named – was born with an unusual abscess on his face that threatened to displace his eye.

As Dr. Brad Goff attempted to surgically remove it, he realized it was much worse, a very rare, fast-growing unlike anything he’d seen. A week later, it was as large as Stromboli’s head.

Partnering with Ethos Veterinary Health's South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty(SAVES), Dr. Meredith Kapler performed the complicated medical procedure against all odds.

Today, Stromboli is healthy and happy, living his best life with his new mom, Practice Manager Tracey Goff, who brings him to work daily.

“Patients like Stromboli rarely live because people rarely take a chance on them,” said Tracey. “Not us. Our team gives forgotten animals that chance. Sometimes we don’t win. But every time we look at Stromboli, we’re reminded that, together, we sometimes do.”

It’s our favorite holiday tradition: NVA’s Best-Dressed Pet Contest! 🎄🐾 As part of our year-end celebration, our Support Center teammates shared photos of their pets in their holiday fashions to compete for the coveted title and grand prize that included a donation to their favorite animal welfare organization!

Meet our 6 finalists who brought the holiday cheer in style, and join us in congratulating Leia and her mom, Ana, Strategic Sourcing Manager, for taking home this year’s trophy!

😼 Meet , a 4-year-old feline. She looks innocent, but don’t let the outfit fool you. This year, she’s been more naughty than nice – breaking into closets, cabinets, and bags of treats. She doesn’t care if naughty cats don’t get presents. She’ll just open yours. (Pet parent: Ana V., Strategic Sourcing Manager)

✨ This is . He’s a 5-year-old Dalmation-Pittie Mix who’s obsessed with the holidays. His favorite toy is this candy cane. Once the antlers are on, he bounces around the yard. For him, holiday fashion isn’t a choice; it’s a lifestyle. (Pet parent: Alexandria D., Client Service Representative at NVA’s Call Service Center)

🦌 Say hello to and - or should we call them “ween-deers”? In these chic, sparkly antlers, who can tell? Always together, this dynamic duo couldn’t be more different. While Archie embraces festive fashions, Eleanor’s side-eye says she’s not here to make friends, just look good. (Pet parent: Madison H., Recruiting Sourcer)

💚 Meet , a 1-year-old Rottweiler in Grinch-patterned pajamas. Like the Grinch’s loyal dog Max, this big lug is a love bug. He loves to cuddle, remind you you’re amazing, and while he’d never think of stealing Christmas, he may steal your heart. (Pet parent: Adrienne C., Medical Success Sr. Manager)

👑 Behold . This 9-year-old Miniature Pinscher expects nothing less than luxury. He demands a cushion between him and the floor at all times. This winter coat is just for show; he’ll accompany you outdoors, but only if carried on a heated velvet throne. (Pet parent: Matthew A., Vendor Contract Performance Manager)

🎅 And finally, say hello to , a 1-year-old Chihuahua-Terrier. While dressed as an elf, you’ll never find her on the shelf. When she’s not keeping her mom’s lap warm, she’s quite busy, perched near the window, ready to alert the neighborhood of squirrels and squirrel-related threats. (Pet parent: Sharron M., Accounts Payable Supervisor)

Wishing you all a season full of joy, laughter and stylish pets! ❤️
