This is a gorgeous example of an "Ice" Ringneck Dove that we did breed here at Majestic Doves Aviary LLC

"Ice" is a Frosty Pied and they are known for their Snowy pure white coloring with a blue ultraviolet hue under certain lighting. In these pictures you can see that the white glows under natural sunlight. Just like freshly fallen snow. The Pied coloring or spots are a steel blue gray color. Every Ice will be mostly Snow White with a varying amount of Pied markings. 😍 Every Pied has their own unique pattern much like a fingerprint and no two birds are exactly alike.

DOG CRATE for a Dove?!

One of the absolute best cages for a Ringneck Dove is an X-Large Dog Crate. Yes I am very much aware of how weird that is However after several years of experience with Parrot cages etc; Dog Crates are the proper width for ground foraging birds. Parrot cages are for just that..Parrots. Parrots as everyone knows are climbing birds. As such they do not require very wide enclosures as they use the vertical space of their home to explore.
Ringneck Doves however cannot climb and will simply sit or hop from perch to perch within a narrow cage. They also need a wider cage to launch themselves forward for flight and onto a bird swing. Doves love bird swings and a wide cage is ideal for this. Another useful piece of information is the need for floor space. Doves are natural foragers and use the floor of their home to waddle around while looking for yummy treats on the bottom. Wider food containers like a tray is also useful for doves as they are known for "tossing" their birdseed out of most standard bird bowls. I wasn't kidding when I had previously written about how the pet store market is not set up for the care of a dove at all. Sure there are some very expensive pigeon brand birdseeds out there, if you look hard enough. Pigeons however are much larger than Ringneck Doves. Pigeons can eat larger types of seed which leaves a new Dove owner frustrated when they see their new pet tossing or completely ignoring this seed. Believe me, I have been there and used what the pet market offers. It is simply not budget friendly and leaves the dove lacking in nutrients. I will go into more detail about the best types of seed etc for a Ringneck Dove in another post. In the pictures below you will see actual Ringneck Dove setups from some customers of ours. They did an amazing job I can't help but share! The greenery you see are simply fake plants that can be found in any craft store or even Amazon. The first few pictures show that the dove owner used reptile or fish tank picture paper on the back of the enclosure. It creates a tropical effect and warms us the space quite nicely.

I cannot stress enough to steer clear of wooden "dowel" perches. These are the standard straight wood perches that come with most all bird cages at the pet store. They are bad for ALL birds and can cause something called Bumble foot. Birds need texture and natural surfaces with different levels so as to not cause foot strain. Sandpaper perches are also VERY bad for all birds. Contrary to popular belief, sandpaper does not file down the nails of any bird. The bird grasps the perch and the nail rarely ever comes in contact with this. Instead the soft part of the birds foot scrapes this sandpaper and causes wounds and even ulcers after long exposure. Believe it or not, just because its sold in the store doesn't mean it is actually the right thing for your pet. If you need to file your birds nails; a simple E-File or standard nail clippers work just fine. A bright lamp is needed and having someone hold the bird while you gently file or clip their nails will do. The bright light is used to see where their vein is so as to not clip the nail too short. If this makes you uncomfortable then an Avian vet will do this for you for a fee. Hope this helps!

So I thought I would once again share with those who do not know; How it is that Majestic Doves Aviary LLC was born.

Years ago I inherited 3 White Ringneck Doves from my husbands grandmother when she passed away. I went all the way to Los Angeles, California for her funeral and came back with 3 Doves and 1 Zebra Finch. At this point in my life, I had never owned a pet bird. That's right..not one pet bird. So I pretty much was thrown into bird ownership without ANY experience.
I was however, the kind of kid who tried to hatch the chicken eggs that were in my refrigerator. I use to build nests for Cardinals in the tree near my window with the hopes of being able to see baby birds. To say that I have always had an interest and love for birds is an understatement. So here I was, a new bird owner and I had absolutely no idea about their care. On top of that, I soon discovered that Doves do not do well at all in 3's. Even numbers with doves is very important. My search for a fourth dove proved to be super challenging. Also, trying to find information on how to care for them properly proved to be difficult. Most information was either outdated or non existent.
I did fortunately find a company to buy a Peach Ringneck Dove female from. However, my struggle did not end there.
Information like: her age, picture of the actual dove etc was also non existent. I found out in this process that the company I purchased her from was actually the middle man. The real expert was the breeder, and he wouldn't talk to me. This most certainly left needed questions unanswered. It took 4 months before I knew when she would be shipped to me. Out of the blue I received a random email with a tracking number and days later my dove arrived. She was shipped with birdseed and no water. NO WATER. It doesn't take an expert to know that shipping a live animal (in the summertime no less) without water is basically a role of the dice. This and the poor customer service I experienced just did not sit well with me. Fortunately she was a sweet dove and got along immediately with the male dove I paired her with. It didn't take long for this pair to start breeding and I very quickly found myself with more doves. It was at this point that I really wanted an indoor Aviary for my pet birds. So my husband made me a deal; I will build you an Aviary if you agree to make it into a business. I wouldn't have agreed except I remember how awful my previous experience was. I hated that others were going through that also. Plus I really didn't believe he could build me one. (I had never seen him build anything before!) After praying about it for a bit, I eventually agreed. My husband not only set forth to build an Aviary in 2 days, but he built an amazing one! We than purchased a bunch of other colors (not fun) and Majestic Doves Aviary was born. It took us about 8 months to really show up on the map and here we are today. We have had our share of struggles and learning from these wonderful birds has truly been the best experience. I really think I should write a book one day as all the knowledge I have is truly in my mind. There is SO MUCH misinformation about these doves and the pet bird market is not set up for the care of doves at all. To this day I have had to use alternative enclosures and food in order to give them the best life possible. Fast forward to today and we have grown and expanded. We have shipped easily 2000 birds with a 100% survival rate. Our socializing and training methods are the real methods that actual licensed bird trainers use. I found that out later on. Imagine my shock when I discovered this. I was just simply listening to God's voice as he gave me very specific instructions on how to socialize them. Some people may not believe this but I can hear His voice very clearly and this isn't something I take lightly at all. As of today our training methods are getting better and better and we have found very quick and almost instantaneous ways to ensure our doves are very friendly. I still pinch myself and I am surprised at how much we have accomplished. (All Glory goes to God) We WILL expand further in the future too. Our eldest daughter is now very much apart of our business and she has found what she wants to do the rest of her life.

I am so excited to continue sharing this journey with all of you; and yes eventually creating a VLOG as well as an online bird magazine. For now I must continue building the foundation of our business as well as continue to learn.

That's right..I am still learning and I love it!
Thank you to everyone for all your support as we navigate this crazy fun world of birds!

Baby Birdies!

22/01/2024

Good Evening Everyone! I would like to update everyone as to why I haven't posted a lot lately. I am currently 12 weeks pregnant with a Baby Girl and I have been sick with a cold for 2 weeks straight! When I am sick I do not handle any birds for their safety and protection. My wonderful family has stepped up in their care for me as I get better. The weather has been terrible, and it seems snow has continued to be a dilemma we are dealing with as well. I promise I will post more videos as I can. For now I have to get better and stronger. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding. I miss our birds!

We just gender tested 15 doves! We will be posting the colors we have available as well as their gender results as soon as we have them. So exciting!

In the meantime sadly we have has to temporarily suspend bird shipping until the weather warms up to more agreeable temperatures. Several states are experiencing Blizzards and others are forecasted to experience Blizzards as well. Here in Indiana we are seeing our temperatures drop into the teens. My sister made a joke on New Years that it looks as if the weather finally got the memo that it is supposed to be cold. As much as I am frustrated with this; I am grateful that most states have had a pretty mild winter. This has been a bonus for shipping our precious cargo to their new homes!

Patience is requested as we completely understand the excitement of meeting your new pet birds. However it is #1 for us that each precious bird arrives completely healthy. Getting a bird that has a cold is not a burden we want anyone to experience.

Thank you all for your understanding and patience! We will continue to provide everyones pets with the outstanding care that they deserve until shipping can resume.
Praying that this is sooner than later!

Side note: I am attempting to tag my still very relevant and awesome original business page here. There are 4100 followers who still don't know what happened to our account over there.
If anyone from that page is seeing this; please head on over here to our second page. Be sure to follow us and subscribe as we are still trying to rebound from being previously hacked. No one is in control of the other page and it's just floating there. I hope they see my message!
