🎄HOLIDAY HOURS🎄
-Summer Street Animal Clinic will be closing at noon on Christmas Eve (Tuesday, December 24) and will remain closed through Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25). We will reopen with normal clinic hours on Thursday, December 26.

-We will also be closing at noon on New Year's Eve (Tuesday, December 31) and will remain closed through New Year's Day (Wednesday, January 1). We will reopen with normal clinic hours on Thursday, January 2.

-Should you find yourself in an emergency situation and need a veterinarian during our holiday closures, we will have a doctor on-call for our current clients.

⭐️IMPORTANT BOARDING REQUIREMENT UPDATE FOR DOGS!!! Starting February 1, 2025, we will require the Leptospirosis (Lepto) vaccine for all canine boarders staying with us. Back in late October, AAHA announced that Lepto would officially be considered a core vaccine along with Rabies and Disptemper-Parvo. As an AAHA accredited clinic, we will be following these guidelines and recommendations.

Good news! If your dog has been receiving the DHLPP vaccine, the L stands for Lepto and they are covered! Several years ago, we noticed an increase of Leptospirosis exposure and cases in our area, so at that time, we began taking the steps to get more dogs vaccinated for it and have “unofficially” considered Lepto a core vaccine since then. This means the majority of our canine patients are already receiving Lepto as part of their annual vaccines.

If you are unsure whether or not your dog is vaccinated for Lepto, shoot us a quick email, text or Facebook message and we’ll answer you as soon as we can. If your dog is not vaccinated for Lepto and you’d like to get them started on it, give us a call and we’ll get you on our schedule! This is a vaccine that we strongly, strongly encourage all dogs to receive, however, it will be required for boarding starting in February 2025.

🐾Christmas and the New Year will be here in a flash- make sure you are not waiting until the last minute to refill your pet's medications, especially if they are a special order. Shipping is hectic during the holidays- couple that with holiday closures, things can really get delayed.

Make sure you stay ahead of the holiday rush and call us today if your pet will be in need of any medication or prescription diet soon!🎄

🐾We will be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving. We will have a doctor on-call for our current clients with pet emergencies. We will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday, November 29. 🦃

🐾We are so very grateful and thankful for our clients and the trust you put in us with your pets. We wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

PS- As thankful as we are for our wonderful clients, we do not want to be seeing you on Friday because your cat or dog was fed Thanksgiving table scraps... so please, keep the human food to the humans.

🐾Please give a warm welcome and round of a-paws (see what we did there?) to our newest DVM, Dr. Ryan Wood! Dr. Wood joined our staff earlier this month and we are absolutely thrilled to have her!

Originally from Galesburg, IL, Dr. Wood completed her undergrad at Western Illinois University. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois in 2023. She and her fiancé, Tanner, currently reside in Burlington with their Aussie, Luka, and their 4 cats, Bean, Tia, Samantha and Charlie. In her free time, Dr. Wood enjoys spending time with family, friends and animals. Her professional interests include cardiology and client education. 🐶🐱 Welcome to the SSAC crew, Dr. Wood!

Summer Street Animal Clinic is looking to add Veterinary Technicians to our hard working, fun loving staff! Though not required, experience is strongly preferred.

Ideal candidates would be reliable, compassionate and able to work both on a team and independently. Some skills we are looking for a candidate to possess are restraint, nail trims, ability to draw blood, set IV catheters and able to lift at least 50 lbs mulitple times per day. 🐶🐱

Some of our crew had a good and sweaty time this past weekend taking part in the Mediapolis Town and Country Days parade! It was a hot one, but we had a great time! ☀️

And while the fun of this past weekend has come to an end, we will heading into a long weekend this upcoming weekend, so make note that Summer Street Animal Clinic will be closed on Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day.
🐾-If your pet is running low on medications and food, please get in touch with us so we can have it ordered/ready for you. Things tend to get a little crazy with ordering and shipping since most places are closed next Monday.
🐾-When closed, we do not actively monitor emails, texts or Facebook messages, so please get in touch with us during normal business hours, if possible.
🐾-As always, we will have a doctor on-call for current clients who find themselves facing a pet emergency.

🐾With another busy week of orthopedic and fracture repair surgeries upon us (next week!), this is a great read for those wanting a better understanding if they've noticed any limping from their pet.
