Happy Rescue Dog Update!
Many of you may remember the 3-month-old puppy we took in a year ago named Bailey (her name now is Lyndi). She was the puppy that Fetch Specialty and Emergency Centers in Brandon contacted us about taking in. She had a liver torsion and was near death, needing major surgery ASAP. So many of you came to her rescue alongside us with generous donations to cover her medical expenses, making it possible for this baby to have a second chance at life.
We thought you might like an update on this little miracle a year later! 🥰
She just turned 1 year old on May 21st and is living her best life, doing things she loves the most... swimming, boating and being a typical golden retriever puppy! We thank you for helping dogs like Lyndi (fna Bailey) with your love and donations. She is only one example of how your love and donations work!
Sophie's Journey: Fifteen months ago, a badly damaged breeder girl came to GRRSWF on a transport from Ohio. Sophie #1133 was nearly catatonic from fear and stress, and we knew her journey to becoming a happy family member would be a long one. We are overjoyed to share this video of Sophie and her new friend, Bug, playing at the home of her adopters, Diane and Jim. To say these serial adopters have been a godsend would be an understatement. They "get" Sophie, with all her quirks, and have helped her overcome so many fears. We are eternally grateful to families willing to take a chance on a dog in need. Happy Golden Years, sweet girl!
Charlie has talent! Despite his eye disorder and weight issue, he is such a happy soul and is thriving with Megan and Adam. Entropian treatment is in the works and a diet plan is underway.
Bratty Paws agility in action. So glad they could join us.
Please turn the sound up when you watch this amazing video of Ruby's transformation. Our gratitude to Linda of Doodles & Friends Mobile Dog Grooming knows no bounds. Look how happy Ruby is with her new look!!!!!!
Oh, the sheer cuteness. Go, Baby Kai, go!
A glimpse of some puppy joy at today's adoption event. So many amazing volunteers devoted their day to making sure these puppies got a great start to their new lives. So grateful!
Please join us in paying tribute to Indie #846. This golden/husky girl came into rescue from a shelter four years ago at about age 10. She battled a mass on her adrenal gland and received chemo, always polite for the many vet visits that became part of her life. She was fostered by Sandra and Thomas, who loved her from the start. An easygoing girl, she was an excellent companion.
Sadly, Indie began struggling late last week and spent the weekend at Blue Pearl, fighting an infection of unknown origin. She has now crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We offer heartfelt thanks to her loving family for giving her four wonderful years. Her other angel was our president, Alesia, who spent hours with Indie at Blue Pearl and oversaw her veterinary care for many years.
Here is a tribute to Indie from Sandra:
Little did I know that a plea from GRRSWF to foster an older dog fighting cancer would turn out to be one of the most blessed experiences of my life. Indie arrived and for four years filled my heart with love. She had a zest for living life with joy and happiness. Indie was independent, abundantly strong willed and loyal. A special thanks to Lynette, Pat and Dr. Finley. Most of all, thank you Alesia. Indie touched so many and will be forever missed.
We are accepting applications from SW and Central Florida for Mako, a 1.5-yer-old yellow Lab who was surrendered to a veterinarian because of alleged aggression. This boy is NOT aggressive! He is simply a high-energy young Lab with elderly owners who could not handle him. He is neutered and up to date. This is a great dog who just needs a chance. Mako is good with other dogs. We don’t know about cats. If interested and not yet approved, please go to www.grrswf.org and fill out an app. If you are an approved adopter, please reach out to Jeanine or Lynette for more info.
What a difference a week makes: Here's another Clewiston Trio member thriving in a foster home. This is Janie, who is still not out of the woods medically. Isn't she lovely? It brings us joy to see her settled into a home and playing with a toy. To all of you who helped with prayers, love and donations: thank you.
A video that is sure to make your day! Here's Caci, one of the Clewiston Trio, thriving in her foster home with Lynette and Justin. You can see how thin and tiny she is, but she's figuring out life as a beloved family member. This is her introduction to ice. Precious, right?
A Good Day for Lenny
Here's a little video that will brighten your day! This is Lenny, one of the Clewiston Trio, finding joy in his foster home. This boy is a bundle of energy and he's not letting his emaciated condition slow him down. How about an attaboy for this handsome fellow?

Our hearts are kind of overflowing right now. Less than a month ago, we welcomed four breeder girls from Ohio. They arrived totally immobilized by fear and lack of socialization. What a difference time, love and exposure to the real world can make. Here's Daisy #1060, having a mad romp with a new friend. Folks, these girls never lived in houses and didn't know how to play, let alone be real dogs with wagging tails. To see her now brings incredible joy. This is why we rescue.
