Mission and Goals
Since 2008
Pet Place International, Inc. (PPI) is a faith based 501c3 non-profit animal rescue organization. Our Mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect to animals; educate children and all members of the community about animal welfare issues; and to provide for the health and well-being of animals with an emphasis on saving lives, and spay/neutering to
help eliminate pet over-population. PPI is completely transparent and is listed as a Gold-star member on Guidestar. Currently the dog and cat euthanasia rate is at an all-time high in our history due to a poor economy and lack of shelter space. Most dogs are kept in shelters a few days; and dogs/cats with special needs, illness, or injury have even less time. PPI rescues dogs, cats, horses, and farm animals from euthanasia and slaughter; we house them at our private Rescue. We rehabilitate, vaccinate, spay/ neuter, and socialize them, making them ready for placement into loving, qualified, and committed homes. Our hearts go out to high-risk, handicapped, and senior animals. We provide a loving sanctuary to rescues who don't get adopted. We treat every animal as our own until they are adopted into their (qualified) Forever home. PPI travels to hurricane ravaged areas to rescue and transport dogs and cats back to our facility. We have traveled to Texas and South Florida for the past four years. We have partnered with Houston Pets Alive, Big Dog Ranch Rescue, and the Humane Society. Additionally, we have rescued high-risk dogs from China, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico. Our dogs have an indoor-outdoor area that is climate controlled. Our kitties have a fun climate-controlled kitty room. *We welcome dog walking and kitty cuddling. PPI has no time limit on how long an animal can stay at our “Rescue Ranch”. We offer a sanctuary to all rescued animals until they are adopted. PPI rehabilitates companion animals that have been injured, malnourished, sickly, surrendered by their owners or awarded by the County. Many of our animals came to us because they were turned away from limited admission shelters. As an open-door Rescue, our presence is critical to the community. Rescue Groups such as PPI are able to save more at-risk shelter animals from euthanasia than the general public. Seventy percent of shelter animals are saved by Rescue Groups, such as PPI. At this time, 88% of cats and 44% of shelter dogs are euthanized. We rescue at-risk shelters animals and get them off the streets and out of shelters alive. Since 2008, Pet Place International, Inc. has saved, re-homed, and spayed/neutered thousands of animals. PPI has a horse rescue facility on eight well-maintained acres, including a 12-horse barn, covered stalls, and an exercise arena. Our rescued horses receive regular farrier and veterinarian care and are kept cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We have found that many horse owners need to relinquish their beloved horses because they can no longer afford to care for them. PPI rescues abandoned horses, kill-lot horses, and horses awarded to us by the County. We nurture, train, and seek out homes with compassionate, loving, responsible and capable adopters. Many horses are retired from the race track and are auction/slaughter-bound simply because they no longer produce income for their owner. These horses are, otherwise, healthy and viable. They become trained athletes, and are perfect for hunter/jumper, trail riding, and companion animals. Every animal deserves the right to be treated with dignity and respect. PPI currently has twelve rescue horses that have been trained and adapted to our therapeutic riding program, Great Strides. We offer therapeutic riding lessons to people with special needs, veterans, children and adults. Animal rescue is our passion and our life mission. Pet Place International is committed and focused on saving animals’ lives and is dedicated to all animal welfare issues on a full-time basis.
