Eric is a shy young guy who missed out on socialization with humans early in his life. But introduce him to a dog, especially a young playful one, and he comes alive! This boy is very sweet and will need a patient new home to help him feel more confident in the world. He is starting to figure out what toys are for. Eric is also working on his leash walking, but so far it’s interspersed with numerous periods of rest (also known as a little bit of stubbornness)! We’re hoping another dog can help show him the ropes and provide some fun play too. If you have a dog needing a playmate, Eric might be the perfect fit! Or if you just want a pup all to yourself and are willing to help mold him into a wonderful gentleman, come on down and meet him. You’ll be very glad you did!

Meet Max, who is destined to be the king of your castle. This guy is the full package – a friendly, well-behaved adult who is just waiting for his forever home. Max walks well on leash and appears unconcerned about other dogs being around. He’s happy just to take you on a tour of the neighborhood, sniffing as he goes. We had some amazing adoptions today!!! Quail, our tortie kitty who spent most of her two and a half months here in the medical clinic, went home!! Sambuca, our one-eyed kitty who gave emotional support to her habitat mate, went home!!! And JoJo, our cutie who's breed we constantly guess and change, will be going home after spay!!! Not pictured, but must be mentioned... Jerry the guinea pig went home with the cutest family and two little girls!!!

This big chestnut pittie is Romper. Romper doesn’t need much. But like anyone, she craves comfort and security. Freedom to stretch her legs and smell the grass. P*e on something she doesn’t have to sleep next to. She wants to know she is safe and loved. And in the absence of a trusted person, she picks a favorite toy to take with her when she’s out in the world. A modicum of comfort from the life she knows, if not the life she would choose.
Having things around you — literally things — you can feel and touch can be incredibly reassuring when the world is on fire. Something ordinary and familiar you can literally hold onto when you can’t see past the moment in front of you.

Say hi to Cooper, a cuddly young man who is as fun as he is friendly. Cooper loves to meet people and his enthusiasm for friends may only be slightly eclipsed by his enthusiasm for toys. This boy has never met a squeaker he didn’t adore. He also loves time right by your side, or possibly in your lap, soaking up all the love. Cooper has the most earnest-looking face, practically begging you to come love on him as soon as you step in front of his kennel. He’s also nice to walk on leash, enjoying checking out his surroundings and bounding around. Cooper notices other dogs and is very polite passing them. We’re pretty sure he’d like to play, given the chance. He also appears very housetrained. Come meet this sweet boy today before someone else snaps him up!

Update: Jackie is adopted! :) Sambuca is still available

Jackie (Calico) and Sambuca (Black) are two four month old kittens who recently spent some time in foster together where they became fast friends 💕 They are both back at the shelter now and are looking for their forever homes!

Jackie is an energetic calico kitten with a playful and adventurous heart. Always on the move, she thrives on exploring her surroundings and engaging with friends, whether they’re human or feline! She adores being pet, loved on, and—when the mood strikes—cuddling up in your lap or being held close to share her soft purrs.

Sambuca is an adorable one-eyed kitten with a sweet and cautious nature that makes her all the more endearing. Though she may take a little time to warm up to new surroundings, once she feels safe, her playful and adventurous sides will be on full display! Sambuca absolutely loves playing with other feline friends, often leading the charge in games of chase or batting around her favorite toys. After a fun play session, she’s more than happy to snuggle up for some pets and attention, relishing the warmth and affection of her people.

We love hearing updates about BACS alumni and how they're thriving in their new homes! Leva found her forever family last week, and her new parents just shared an exciting update about her first week at home:

Hi BACS,
This is Debbie and Ralph. 1 week ago today we came into the shelter and adopted little Leva. We just love her so much and she has fit into our family so well. She’s got plenty of energy- never a dull moment for the other dogs. She loves being outside. Even when the other dogs are sleeping in the garage, she’ll be out on the deck in the sun, laying in the dirt, or down the hill sitting in the leaves! It’s super cute.

We wanted to thank everyone there for investing so much time and love into Leva. She is so gentle taking snacks, not food obsessed, potty trained, and is a good listener- and loves sleeping out in the sun on our deck. Both Ralph and I look at her and can’t believe she was there for so long- which shows what great care you all gave her.

We realized when we got home that Leva sounds a lot like “leave it”- which is one of the commands we use with our dogs to leave something alone- so we shortened her name to Evie. She responded right away- so we felt good about the nickname.

A special thanks to Nicki who was so patient with us and Wes our dog when we came into visit.

Kimbo is an extra-large bully mix, with a personality as big as his (almost) 120-pound frame. His impressive size and occasional stubborn streak can present a challenge, but his laid-back nature and affectionate personality make him well worth it. Though he walks well on a leash, Kimbo is still getting used to it and will need continued guidance to perfect his leash skills. He’s a master at claiming the comfiest spot in the house, and once settled, he’ll be the most relaxed and loyal buddy.
