It gives me chills to finally hear this conversation being brought into light. This is why we have spent the last 6 years prioritizing growing as much of our own food as we can!
.
I wish I thought that there was going to be some real change that comes from all of this discussion, but these corporations will always find a way to win. The change that we can control is in our own households. That is where your power is. I know it may sound like climbing a mountain range filled with mine fields, but you have to start somewhere. Make one change at a time and before you know it you will have overhauled everything you are feeding your family. Even if you arenât in the position to grow your own food, learn to seek out organic ingredients and cook from scratch.
.
Donât get me wrong, I support every effort to make changes at the upper levels, and we all should be fighting for it. But the immediate change can start at home đ
.
I love this video because it describes so much of what I tell people daily that come to me with questions! And itâs not just glyphosate, itâs all of the artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. There is a lot to watch out for!! Just start educating yourself, itâs so powerful! And hang around my page and I will help guide you.

Have you grown your own shelling beans? Which type is your favorite?
Last year we harvested two half gallon jars of pinto beans to store and use throughout the year!
Pinto beans are so easy to grow, harvest, and store. I highly recommend you try it!
I made the most delicious baked beans with bacon using our homegrown beans and bacon last night! Will share the recipe soonđ
The best part of growing beans, is you only need to buy the seed once. Once you have saved your first crop, you just save some of the dry beans to plant again next year!! You can also tind the link to the bean seeds I started with through the link in my bio!

Just in time for those pumpkin pies! Whip some up this weekend and have it ready!
You really can use almost any kind of pumpkin for purĂŠe, but people typically use Sugar Pie Pumpkins. Last year was my first year using Jarrahdale pumpkins for purĂŠe, and oh my gosh you guys it was delicious!!! They are my favorite to grow because they look so pretty as decor, so I was absolutely delighted to find out they are delicious as well
I store in mason jars or vacuum seal, and freeze it in 2 cup portions, since thats what the recipes I use it for call for.
If you freeze in mason jars, only use wide mouth jars and fill to 3/4 full to leave room for expansion. Mine lasts in the freezer all year till the next seasonâs pumpkins are ready!

As promised, Iâm finally ready to share our Maple Bacon bone recipe!!
Itâs a very simple, nitrate free recipe. Recipe should be enough for a 3.5 pound slab of pork belly, and can be multiplied as needed.
Brine in the refrigerator for 4 days before smoking. Because it is nitrate free it will not last in the refrigerator for days and days, but that is never an issue for us. Slice, vacuum seal, and freeze after itâs smoked and pull it out of the freezer as needed!!
.
Brine:
1/4cup coarse sea salt
1/3 cup Maple Syrup
1/3 cup Brown sugar
.
Stay tuned for PART 2!

Comment âcheese@ and I will send you the link to my printable recipe and favorite starter chèvre culture. Make sure you are following so the link makes it to you! .
.
Nothing will impress the guests at your next holiday get together like some fresh chèvre!! Itâs so much more delicious than store bought!!
Making goat cheese (or Chèvre) is so much easier than it seems like it should be. Itâs a task that can really be happening in the background of life, as it sits to culture and drain. It seems like it should be a complicated process, but when I went to make it for the first time I was like âReally? Thatâs it?â
So grab a gallon of fresh goats milk and go for it!

Comment âherbsâ if you would like a list of my favorite books on medicinal herbs! I have learned so much from these books, I will never look at nature the same again!
.
At one point while we were out there in the woods, Jax got stung by a bee and I looked for about 10 seconds, found some plantain, scrunched it up and pressed it in the sting. All better in minutes!
The ability to heal ailments with nature feels like a super power and as a momma itâs like having magic in my pocket!
