Hawaii Dog Foundation We are an all-volunteer rescue group that finds safe, loving homes for Oahu’s unwanted dogs 🐶🐾
(18)

Hawaii Dog Foundation DOES NOT have a hard-sided facility for potential adopters to visit. Instead, we are a network of volunteers, each taking a foster dog into our home. We get to know our dogs very well and strive to place them in homes that best fit their personality. To know more about or to meet a dog your interested in, please send us a direct message here on Facebook or send us an email!

It’s happening folks!

Photos with Santa 🎅 on Kailua Beach. Sunday, December 15th from 7-9am. Come and share some Sunday morning joy with us!

Bring your furry friend for fun photos and a puppichino. Santa will be there with a Christmas-themed backdrop and some holiday gear for your pet to borrow (antlers, Christmas sweaters, collars, etc). We’ll be there to take the photos and send them to you or feel free to use your own camera.

This event is absolutely FREE, but donations are GREATLY appreciated, so we can continue to help this island’s animals

Are you looking to make a meaningful impact to a movement right here on Oahu? Here’s an option during the holiday season. Please consider a donation to our cause sometime before December 31st.

Our friends at Hale to Heaven are graciously matching up to $3000 in donations so we can continue to bring much needed spay and neuter to this island.

Every single day Hawaii Dog Foundation receives at least one call for help to take in an unwanted dog(s). Like all the other rescues, we have no more room, and it’s been this way for a year. We’re tired of saying “No, sorry. We can’t help. We’re full”. There’s an innocent 4-legged animal at the heart of that ask.

So, we’re going straight to the source. No more accidental litters. No more lack of access to spay/ neuter due to high cost or lack of transportation. The overpopulation and resulting unwanted animals has to stop.

If you can’t donate, but have an unspayed/unneutered animal you’d like to get fixed, message us. We WILL help!

Happy Saturday dog lovers!

Our girl Mahina is in a bad way. She desperately needs a new foster home as her current foster simply can’t keep her any longer.

She’s a big girl, kennel trained and forever trainable through the love of her ball.

She loves car rides, people of all sizes, and BALL. (A good game of tug-o-war comes in as a close second).

She can be selective about other dogs, so we’re looking for a place with no other dogs.

If you can help this beautiful girl out and offer her a comfy place to sunbathe and romp, we’d love to chat, so send us a message👍

Ladies and Gents, meet Rog! Hold on to your heart cause this boy’s gonna steal it🥰

He’s about a year old, neutered, microchipped and received his first vaccinations. He weighs about 40lbs and we think he’s full grown. He’s a meaty potato that’s looking for his forever home. His favorite things in life—hanging out with his human(s) and FETCH!

You wanna meet him? Fill out an adoption application on our website, www.hawaiidogfoundation.org and ask for him by name and we’ll set something up.

An update on Caesar that we did not want to make. After a very rough night and showing continued decline, Caesar was seen by the neurologist at VERC. His condition and injuries were too severe for further intervention.

Caesar has crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. He was loved by our organization since he was a puppy and was not alone in his final moments. who has been fighting for him endlessly since he was attacked, was by his side.

We are devastated to have to bring this news to our wonderful community that came together once again to give an innocent dog a chance when he otherwise wouldn't have had one.

We are outraged at the senseless abuse that has led to Caesar suffering and losing his life and will not stop applying pressure to the authorities to ensure what happened to him does not happen again.

Thank you to everyone that contributed to his hospitalization and gave our posts shares to try to help him.

Please help Caesar!! Please follow his story on Aloha Animal Outreach and Hina's Legacy page. Your donation will go straight to the medical attention he needs. Mahalo for your support and please share this post 🐾

TRIGGER WARNING: Animal abuse is described in this post.

UPDATE: Caesar had a very rough night. His condition continued to decline. We were informed this morning that he was not a candidate for a CT scan and that his injuries were too severe for surgical procedures. Caesar has crossed the rainbow bridge. He was loved by his owner and our organization since he was a puppy. He was not alone in his final moments, was by his side. We are devastated to deliver this news to our amazing community that has once again come together to try to save an innocent dog that would otherwise have no chance.

Last night, residents in a large camp on the west side reported that a little dog our organization knows well named Caesar was beaten in the head with a pipe so severely that he was left seizing uncontrollably.

Our volunteers linked up with who rushed him to VCA to get immediate emergency treatment. They worked all night to stabilize him. X-rays from determined his skull is fractured in 3 places. His brain is swelling due to the trauma of the attack. Caesar requires overnight hospitalization and medication to bring down the swelling. He has stopped sizing at this time. His medical treatment has already cost $2000. We are looking to our amazing community to help us raise the funds for one more night of hospitalization for Caesar.

There is an open investigation into the abuse that Caesar has suffered. Residents reported who is suspected of the attack and offered statements. It was not his owner. We are hurt and outraged that anyone would do this, but our team remains focused on doing everything in our power to help him.

If you are able to contribute to his care, please visit the link below for our PayPal and venmo. We are combining funds with Hina's Legacy to ensure he receives treatment. If you are unable to contribute but would like to help, please give this post a share.

UPDATE: He has been checked into VERC. We aren't sure yet of his chances, but we aren't giving up. Thank you so much to everyone that is helping us share and donating so that we can continue to try.

We met this sweet 8-week old girl named Daisy on Saturday at the spay/neuter event in Waimanalo. She went to our friends at Aloha Animal Outreach (AAO) that night and very quickly became very ill. She’s currently at VCA fighting a battle with pneumonia for her tiny life.

She’s got her whole life ahead of her and we’re doing our best to help her take the time in ICU she needs to turn the corner. As you know, emergency care like this isn’t cheap.

If you can, please make a donation to AAO specifically for her care.

Fight, little Daisy 🌼, fight♥️

Update 845pm 28 Oct: We are absolutely devastated to report that in spite of doing absolutely everything we could do, Daisy's little body could not continue to fight. She has crossed the rainbow bridge. We appreciate the outpouring of support we have received that allowed us to make decisions to help her no matter what instead of being forced to give up her treatment for financial reasons. We know our posts have been shared far and wide so we will be temporarily removing donation links from our link tree. Thank you everyone for your prayers and support.

🌼DAISY UPDATE🌼

Daisy's condition is critical.

The vet confirmed she is battling a serious pneumonia. Her little body is fighting, but her condition worsened earlier and we almost lost her. She is now receiving additional treatment to help her stabilize.

Our volunteer has put this treatment on her personal credit card, so we didn't have to give up on sweet Daisy. We want to give her a chance to fight! If she can pull through this, there is a whole wonderful life waiting for her with one of the many people that have applied to foster and adopt her.

We are looking to our community to help us continue Daisy's care. If you are able to contribute, please visit the link below for our PayPal and Venmo. If you are unable to donate, please give our post a share to get Daisy's story out to a wider audience. Thank you to everyone that donated so far covering her first night of hospitalization. We couldn't have gotten this far without you 🐾

🚨PRINCESS IS STILL MISSING🚨

Details:

Slipped out the front door of her foster home, last Thursday, 17 October around 9pm (foster home is the red star labeled #1 on the map)

The other red stars are locations she was spotted yesterday, 21 October, from 3-6pm.

Last report indicates she made her way off Schofield Barracks and may be in the Wahiawa or even Mililani area.

She weighs about 18lbs and isn’t wearing a collar or ID. 😞

‼️UPDATE on Princess‼️ Late afternoon/early evening on 10-21-24, we were notified that a dog was loose near Schofield commissary. This picture on FB post looks more like our girl, as opposed to the one prior. A small team rushed to track from starting point. More notifications came in and volunteers followed the “scent”-some tips even came in saying that there were sightings OFF (the military) BASE 😱 Nighttime calls for darkness and searching for a small black dog poses it’s obvious challenges. Luckily, Princess has many eyes open on social media and willing volunteers to help search in the field to bring her back safely to us. Mahalo for your support and prayers as we all just want Princess to be found safely 🙏🏽🙏🏽

We’re still watching, hoping, listening and searching for Princess!! A volunteer went out today for a couple hours to search the surrounding area. They received a tip that a small black dog was roaming less than a half mile away from foster’s home. The hopes that it might be her or even another dog that could be reunited with their family was well worth the effort to try 🐾 We weren’t successful this time around, but won’t stop!! Mahalo for your support, prayers and well wishes for Princess to be safely returned under our care 🥹 Please share and stay tuned…🌺
