Jasper rocked his session today! we saw a bunch of things from skateboards and bikes to loud kids bouncing around and he handled it all like a pro. proud of this boy!

I got to teach the kids at Week 2 of the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe Edventure Camp. We talked about dog training and understanding body language. We were able to bring in some of the shelter dogs and talk about what they were "saying".
Then Bagheera came in and did some tricks and scent work. The kids got to meet and pet her and she was loving it! She even did a little "selfie" with the campers!
this morning I had the great privilege of working with the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe and teaching the week 1 Edventure Camp kids about dog training and dog body language. we got to interact with some of the shelter dogs (pictured here is adoptable dog Darla) and learn about what they are "saying". I was also able to bring my dog Bagheera in and do some tricks and some scent/nose work with her.
Fun time all around!
I got to take Nova out on a field trip this morning. She's one of the adoptable dogs from the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. She did really well with all the craziness that we saw. She was interested in it all but was able to keep cool and take it all in stride. Stop by the shelter and check her out!
It’s official, for the 2nd year in a row, Dog Pause has been voted “Best Animal Trainer” in Truckee and North Tahoe.

great session working with Jasper downtown!
he was around a lot of craziness and was still able to maintain his conversation with me. at the end of the session we wound down by hanging out in the back of my car.
Hung out with Penny and Juno today while volunteering at the shelter.

got to work with Jasper today.
he's a pup who sometimes has a lot of big (and loud) feelings about things around him. we worked in downtown Truckee and focused on him being calm around new and distracting things. I gotta say he absolutely rocked it! there were a couple of times he started to respond to things but he was able to quickly calm down and talk to me about it. so great to see!

Just chilling with Bagheera and taking in the world around us. I do believe Winnie the Pooh was right when he said "doing nothing often leads to the very best of something". Don't overlook the power of slowing down.
Bentley is such a fun dog to hang out with. She and Bagheera had a blast playing in the water and chasing each other on their latest walk.
Big Congratulations 🎉 to Tony and his dog Arlington for passing their Canine Good Citizen evaluation today!
he plans to use Arlington to help out first responders and share info about mental health. such a great thing to do and I'm happy to have played a small role in that by doing the CGC evaluation.
good luck in your endeavors Tony! I know you and Arlington are going to have a positive impact on those you interact with.

FREE DOG TRAINING CLASS FOR HUMANE SOCIETY OF TRUCKEE TAHOE ADOPTERS AND VOLUNTEERS
Did you know that the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe offers a free monthly dog training class for all adopters and volunteers? That's right! On the second Saturday of every month, you can attend a class designed to help you get a solid foundation with your pup. Classes are taught by me, Dan Tower Anderson, a double-certified professional dog trainer, owner of Dog Pause, and fellow HSTT adopter.
Classes are held at the HSTT Truckee shelter on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 9:00 to 11:00 am. The next class is this coming Saturday (June 8th).
Space is limited, so please pre-register online.
Plus, those who attend get access to a steeply discounted private Initial Consultation session.

While working with 12 week old Suki and her guardians I paused to take a break and explain some things. I looked down and she was calmly sitting right next to me intently paying attention to what I was saying.
This in and of itself is adorable but it was also fun to see such restraint as she's a very jumpy dog and loves to jump up on people.
We had just worked on engaging her brain and impulse control. Even at 12 weeks old puppies can (and should!) engage their brain and learn.
