-Sponsor a water 💧spigot-
& help replenish food supply
Hello from Freedom Ranch. So it’s been awhile since we held a fundraiser on FB or Instagram. Well here we are….We have gone from a hot and dry early summer to the monsoon rains of ‘24. Not enough water too much water.

The picture shows a full bucket, normally not an issue except in this case the water spigot is failing. To make matters worse, this is just one of two that have decided to simultaneously fail. They will have to be replaced, and soon before it impacts the well pump and expansion tank. The cost for each spigot is $185.00 each, there is also cost for a small concrete stabilizing pad ($200.00 total). We are asking for donations!!! You have an opportunity to sponsor a spigot, This will be a tremendous help. Each sponsor will have a small tag at the base of the spigot with their name or a name of their choice.

In addition to our spigot dilemma, our food supply has been interrupted due to the storm. A good portion of our stored food has been compromised by the excessive rains. This will set us back a couple months. We are also asking for donations to help supplement our losses from the storm. As always, we greatly appreciate all of our sponsors and volunteers.

Our goal is to replace the two damage spigots and, add two additional spigots ( 4 total @ $200 per). As for the food, we will need to raise at least $2000 to cover us until the next harvest and help through winter.

⚠️Weather Update from Freedom Ranch⚠️
We are all safe and sound! Power has been out for a couple of hours and we have bands of wind and rain coming through. Most of the animal areas are flooded and will require some repair after the storm. There has been a Tornado confirmed behind the ranch with some damage reported. Thank you to all that have reached out to us, we appreciate your support!

We are incredibly saddened to announce the passing of our dear Maize. I (Gail) tried putting a video out there to express our sadness and grief… I have been too much of a mess to explain to you all so, as it pains me to share by text, I need to share by post and not my recorded word.

Words really are not enough and don’t express the true emotions we are feeling right now.

This is so painful. Every heartache leaves a huge emotional scar, it’s a punch in the chest that knocks the wind out of the soul. My face is drenched with tears and my throat is tight, my body tense. To love and give your soul is selfless but also painful.

Maize was one of our first goats here at Freedom Ranch. She came with Maggie. Maize and Maggie quickly bonded with our donkey, Bob. As other goat residents joined our family, they quickly made best buddies with everyone.

Maize was the treat taster and never passed up a meal, a banana, a carrot, or really anything else! A sweet girl who jumped and zoomed all over the fields and on the playset. A cuddler with her buddies, laying in the warm sun. Maize was loved by our humans but also other Freedom Ranch residents.

I laid in the stall with Maize and held her as she drifted away. As I held her and gave her comforting scratches and rubs, I told her how good she was and that she was loved. Bob is an incredibly empathetic donkey and was aware of the emotions. He gently supported us with his presence as we comforted Maize during her last moments on this earth. Maggie would come in the stall and walk around, sniff Maize, even rubbing her nose on her head. The air was still.

An incredibly sad time but we know that Maize had a wonderful life full of treats, love, and care. She will be incredibly missed.

We are hurting so much right now. Please send your positive energy for healing, for our humans and for our residents.💔

Completed many projects yesterday. Everyone chipped in to clean the stall fans and install a new fan at the grey building. We cleaned a couple of shelters and groomed several residents. Thanks to all that volunteer your time at the ranch!!😊🐴❤️🇺🇸🦋

Some of our followers have been asking for an update on Pearl aka Little One🦋. She is doing very well, and is fully recovered from being spayed. Her weight is perfect and her coat is amazing since she has been on a regular diet. She continues to be quite the explorer⛵️, and is the talk of the town here at the ranch. She loves all animals, especially cats🐱. She’s very curious to learn more about her surroundings, and is eager to start each new day at first light🌞. She prefers a human lap and a good movie before bed time📽️😴❤️❤️

It’s all about perspective. Yeah, it’s a lot of work…

14 HEAVY bales = 60-70lbs each
12 bags feed = 50lbs each
1 person (the worker lol)

I unloaded over 1500lbs from the bed of a 3500 Ram (up and down, sliding bags, lifting and pushing, stacking hay bales)

That’s all before the work got started this morning.

We’ve been working “quietly” in the background but rest assured we are working our tails off to take care of our residents and figuring out logistics of current rescue efforts.

It’s physical. It’s emotional.

It’s also rewarding.

So, yeah, I guess it’s a lot of work ❤️☀️

Taking a quick breather to soak it all in… our job is never done but well worth all the hard work!

Maggie recently lost her mother,💔 her lifelong companion and her family needed a place for Maggie to be with others like her. Maggie has been sad 😢 these last few weeks and we hope her new home at the ranch will help in the recovery of the loss of her mom❤️‍🩹

Maggie is 18, she loves apples, and finds carrots irresistible! She is incredibly sweet and friendly.

She is curious and we can’t wait to introduce her to her other new equine friends here at Freedom Ranch!

➡️Calling all Volunteers!🚨🚨It’s been awhile since we’ve seen ya and we miss you!!! Pull out those rubber boots, put on your best cowboy hat or hoodie and join us for a day full of fun, sunshine and adventure!!, Well….yeah…..it will be an adventure for sure!!😝🐴🐷. Our First Saturday’s volunteer event is just 4 days away! We look forward to seeing everyone this Saturday March 2nd from 10am to 1pm! Hot Chocolate, Coffee and lite snacks will be available!!
