IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Hello to you all! I (Abby) have a bit of bittersweet news to share...
As of November 1st, Training Buddy will be taking a hiatus with an undetermined end date, which means all services will be suspended until further notice.

"WHAT?! WHY??"
My husband, Dillon, and I are becoming foster-to-adopt parents sooner than we expected and I will be transitioning into being a stay-at-home-mom and full-time supporter of our growing family. Some of you know that the number 1 thing I've always wanted in life was to be a mom, and now that it's happening, I could not be more excited!

"But what about Budhi?"
Unfortunately, Budhi still finds himself unable to carry on the business at this point in time, but HE WILL BE BACK EVENTUALLY! Given that this is still a personal topic, he requests that his privacy continue to be respected and that he or I are not bombarded with any questions or pressured to share information.

I want to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to love you and your dogs like family; I am forever grateful! I have enjoyed my time as part of the Training Buddy staff and I wish every single one of you nothing but the very best. Stay awesome 💛

No Pooch Play tomorrow, there’s still too much water on the ground. We’ll try again next month!

Don’t forget to get your dogs out! A tired dog is a happy dog 👍🏼

16/08/2021

Given how HOT it has been, we will not be having a Dog Hike this month. Take that time to stay cool, we'll see you next month!

03/08/2021

Happy August! Here to bring you some joy as Dog of the Month is……….
Lulu! 🎉
Lulu is a copper colored cavapoo who LOVES to be spoiled by her mama, Amanda. When she is not attending daycare, she is likely to be found giving sass to her not so little brother, Teddy. Now that Lulu has a friend at home, she has made so much progress on getting out of her shell and socializing with other dogs! Our favorite things about Lulu are her obsession with the daycare wiffleball (as seen in the video!) and the way she hops and “dances” when asking another dog to play. Congrats, Lulu, and thanks for being part of the crew!😁

PSA:
Many of you have recently inquired about our boarding services. We actually are no longer offering boarding until further notice. If you are around the York county area, we recommend Rosie’s Canine Clipper instead. Tell them Training Buddy sent you!

Happy Independence Day! Don’t forget to keep yourself and your dogs safe today!

Dog Hike update:
Turns out, there will NOT be a dog hike this month 😕 As many of you know, I sprained ankle and broke my foot a few weeks ago. It has been healing up well and I thought I was ready for a hike, but it has been hurting lately, so I’m going to take a little more time to baby it. Hopefully we’ll be good to go next month!

We’re a little late with this, so forgive us! June’s Dog of the Month goes to………
Beasley (Beas)!
This girl has made SO much progress since the first time we met her. She used to be fearful of and reactive to other dogs to the point that her mom, Peggi Balazsy, was afraid to socialize her. But after consistent training and hard work from Peggi, Beasy has learned to enjoy being a dog😁 Our favorite thing about Beas is her obsession with splashing water so she can try to catch it!
Please join us in congratulating this girl for winning Dog of the Month!

Hi everyone, this is Abby. I have more of a serious post coming your way.

Many of you have been asking me questions about what is going on and where Budhi is. I know multiple of you have also reached out to Budhi directly. Unfortunately I am not allowed to get into details about what has happened, but I can say that Budhi is okay, but does not have access to his phone or any other personal method of communication, including social media. Currently it is just me running everything, which is why training and boarding have been suspended for the time being, but these services will be back. I have no intention of letting this business that Budhi worked so hard to build fail or letting the community fall apart. We need you guys now more than ever💛

With that being said, please be kind and respectful of his privacy, including not communicating with his wife, Susan. If you have any further questions, please message me privately. I will do my best to answer them with the restrictions I have.

Thank you for understanding!

So when lessons or metaphor offer themselves I try to learn when I can. Yesterday I had a very challenging session. Planning to put a collar on a dog the dog was triggered into an attack. No matter how long I do what I do my heart breaks a little when this happens. I tell folks that I will not quit on a dog. It is tough to watch as I try to restrain a dog and see the dog flipping out. The dog was where I have been too often. It’s fear it’s anger is so many things. I was bitten several times but I will not quit because the alternative is that the dog be destroyed. How much can I endure l, can I weather this and walk this dog out? There, in this space, so much going on, you have to constantly assess what is best, what is going to do the most good? I can make mistakes and and make things worse, I can think I know and miss what the dog is telling me. In the mess I also need to be aware of my own emotion and control them so that I don’t make things worse.
In my world experience I have endured some pretty awful things and needed to find someone to walk me out, in love they saved me. I have made bad decisions based upon my emotions that have made things worse. I reacted to things that were unimportant to others, things they can’t understand. People have reacted to me...
I will have injuries for some times and maybe scars for awhile longer. These injuries people may see and question, scars may go without explanation. These are the marks of my work, evidence of my love. Can I endure this and stay focused on the goal? I have explained to everyone that will listen how I work on problematic dogs, folks don’t seem to have perspective. I want to save every dog, even in spite of the reality that I know no one can save them all.
I am the dog, I am the savior, I want to have the strength and courage to go where the dog needs to go and to make it safe to come out, to come home.

So I want to talk about a difficult subject... There have been several people recently that have approached me about rehoming dogs. It’s a difficult situation and I’m not unempathetic but generally it is my (therefore training buddy’s) policy that I/we do not get involved in rehoming a dog. I have a personal belief that all dogs are salvageable but not everyone is capable of or willing to do the work. On the inverse side it is extremely emotional for me to walk through that process. There are a great many wonderful people and organizations that do that very challenging work. I welcome any chance to pass the word of a dog that needs a home or even people who are looking to add a new dog to their home. If you would like to share rescues that have been positive in your experience please feel free to post. I will not accept anyone talking trash about any of this, it really is about what’s best for the dog. I will always encourage everyone to adopt not buy but everyone must make their own decisions. Thanks for reading but please be patient and reach out if you need help before rehoming.

April’s Dog of the Month goes to...Energy!
Don’t let this picture fool you, this girl can RUN! Energy is a daycare regular and is famous for running out the other dogs and helping the shy ones break out of their shells. When she’s not here with us, she enjoys living with her mom, her dad, and her (human) brother and sister. Our favorite things about Energy are her never-ending fascination with finding sticks, her super sweet demeanor, and the big hug she gives to the people she loves and trusts. Congrats, sweet girl! We love having you!🥰
