Did you know more pets go missing on the 4th of July than any day of the year? Fireworks may be fun for people, but loud noises are scary for dogs.

Heat is also dangerous for your pup. They don’t sweat like humans do, and they’re always wearing a fur coat.

A few years ago, we went through a scary experience with our pug, Sebastian. He started falling over one evening, and was completely paralyzed the next day. After a day full of vet visits, we still had no answers.

Until we found the tick. After we removed it, Sebastian recovered. His mystery ailment was called tick paralysis, and it was terrifying.

Since 2023 is supposed to be a bad year for ticks, we wanted to pass some information along. We hope that nobody else in our Call of Doody family ever has to experience what we did.

Sebastian’s for #2023 is to let go of past grudges. Change starts with him. It’s okay that he doesn’t like the Xbox, roosters crowing, doorbells, people standing up, phones ringing, doors opening, or bicyclists. Yelling never convinced anybody to change their ways, and he is going to choose kindness instead.

Call of Doody wants to remind everybody that if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for your dog. A fur coat isn’t enough to keep them warm and safe. Bring them inside!

As winter settles in across the state, Animal Humane Society urges pet owners to think twice when letting pets outside for extended periods of time. Temperatures below freezing along with wind chill can prove deadly for our domesticated pets.

I’m going to try to get as many yards done this weekend that I can. I sliced my finger last night and tried to bandage it up well enough so I could scoop all day today. Well that didn’t work so I’m back home bandaging it again. Sorry for the inconvenience. Between the rain and now my finger I’m way behind. Thank you all for your patience.❤️
