We had an emergency intake last night, meet Sox. He is a teeny 4 week old Corgi puppy. His owner contacted us last night when he was acting lethargic. He is just a teeny guy and was dehydrated and is pretty emaciated.

We took Sox to Animal Emergency Center where he was assessed. They were extremely busy last night so they stabilized him with some fluids, syringe fed him a high calorie food, and sent us home with instructions for frequent small syringe feedings overnight, regular deworming and much TLC.

His foster set an alarm and fed Sox a tiny bit every 2 hours throughout the night. He is still pretty weak, but perkier. He will be seeing our regular vet. Hoping he is on the uphill climb now 🙏

If you would like to contribute to this little guy’s vetting, please see links below.

If we know one thing about Bugsy, it's that he's ridiculously friendly! He's the type to climb right into your lap! This guy is a social butterfly who is looking for his forever family.

Bugsy is a petite boxer mix around 1 1/2 years old. He weighs 45 #. He came to us locally from our friends at QC Paws.

Bugsy loves toys, running around outside and playing with other dogs. He is cat friendly, but may be a bit too much for some cats as he wants to play.

Bugsy is house trained and crate trained. He knows sit and is learning other basic commands. He is an affectionate, fun guy who has lots of energy. He would love an active family and a home with a big fenced in yard. He is treat motivated and would be a fun dog to take to training, agility and maybe even nose work.

Bugsy is neutered, current on vaccines and prevention, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $300. To meet Bugsy, please submit an application at www.k9kindnessrescue.org/adopt. As a reminder, we are not a shelter location and require a scheduled meet and greet.

Adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad Cities. All pets currently in the home must be routinely kept up to date on shots, prevention and fixed to be approved for adoption.

The K9 Kindness Rescue 1st Annual D.O.G. (Day of Golf) was a huge success! It seems like everyone had a good time and we made approximately $6,300 for the animals!

Huge thank you to Kathy Daurelle Holle and family for planning this event. We also thank all the volunteers, sponsors, fosters and donors who made this day successful. We couldn’t help any dogs without people like all of you!

We are so grateful and blessed for the community support K9 Kindness Rescue receives and look forward to having another D.O.G next year!

We welcomed locals, Arwen and Stanley, to the K9 Kindness family tonight. They are Champ’s siblings.

Arwen is around 3 years old and the former owner said she is a miniature American Eskimo Dog. She is timid at first, but warmed up to her foster mom in no time. Arwen was super good for her bath and loves her new dog bed.

Stanley is a happy little guy around 6 years old. He immediately fit in with the other dogs in his foster home and acted like he had lived in that yard forever. The former owner said he is a Shih Tzu mix, maybe with terrier or chihuahua? Whatever he is, he is darling and sweet!

Welcome to the K9 Kindness family, Arwen and Stanley. We love you already 💜

Cocoa Puff is one of the sweetest dogs ever! We are thinking of her today as she goes in for her spay and entropion surgery on her eyes.

You can tell she has been struggling with her eyes for quite some time. They drive her crazy. She squints and rubs them on everything. We can’t wait for her to feel better!

Cocoa is a young girl, around a year old. She knows sit and lay down. She is a vocal dog and has a lot to say. She loves everyone she meets. She previously lived with a small dog and was gentle with her. We think she would like a playmate her size. However, she comes in hot! She doesn’t know how to properly greet dogs and runs up on them to play immediately. Some slow and proper introductions will help her be successful.
Cocoa is crate trained and rides well in the car. She met a dog savvy cat and was very respectful of his space.

If interested in meeting Cocoa once she recovers, please submit an application at

We would like to thank everyone for their donations for Champ, including the anonymous donor who called in $200 towards his bill at Animal Family. He is still a little groggy, but already feeling so much better! He will be good as new in no time!

We had plans to meet 3 local dogs for a potential intake as their owner is losing housing. While we had zero plans to bring any home with us tonight, life has a way of interfering and bringing us to the dogs that really need us.

Meet Champ! He did indeed come home with us tonight (is anyone surprised??). He has a ruptured abscess that needed urgent attention. Unfortunately, our local emergency center is full, but luckily, he is in stable condition. Therefore, they advised us to clean his wound and take him to our daytime vet tomorrow. He is clean, happy, and settled into his foster home.

We thank our amazing retired groomer who shaved his wound and cleaned him up as best as she could. We also appreciate our foster who immediately said yes. We are truly blessed with the best team!

We will be helping his siblings find rescue as well. They will all need vetting and spay/neuters.

Below are our donation links if you would like to assist with Champ’s medical bills. You can also assist by liking and sharing this post. We are always looking for foster families to assist with dogs needing a new “leash” on life. Apply at www.k9kindnessrescue.org/foster.

We welcomed this cute, scared little corgi puppy, Rusty, to the K9 Kindness family from a local owner surrender. Rusty is not very socialized and pretty nervous. Rusty had a spa day and is getting neutered today. We will let him settle in to his foster home as we determine what his forever home needs are. Rusty is 8 months old and has the cutest little eyebrows and ears we have ever seen 🐾

🐾 Adopted 🐾

Sarena is an adorable Aussiepoo around 14 weeks old. She is a precious little fluffy ball of energy.

Sarena loves toys and to play with her siblings. She is also an outdoorsy girl and enjoys running around in the grass. She is good with other dogs and has met a couple of young children. We have not had her around cats since coming into rescue, but assume she would do well.

Like all puppies, Sarena would benefit from positive reinforcement puppy training and continued socialization. We recommend Fur Better Fur Worse Dog Training.

Sarena will likely be a high energy dog that needs an active/stimulating lifestyle. She will also need professionally groomed every 4-6 weeks to keep her coat mat free.

Sarena’s adoption fee is 350 and will require a spay/neuter contract. To meet her or one of her siblings, please submit an application at www.k9kindnessrescue.org/adopt. As a reminder, we are not a shelter location and require a scheduled meet and greet. We do not operate on a first come first serve basis.

Adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad Cities. All pets currently in the home must be routinely kept up to date on shots, prevention and fixed to be approved for adoption.

Bryan is the most handsome guy on the block! This guy came to us from Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control (CRACC) several months ago. We have been working on his confidence and comfort in his own handsome skin. He has been making a lot of progress and is ready to start looking for his people.

Bryan is still timid. He takes a bit to warm up, but once he does, you are his person forever! Bryan would do best in a calmer home with structure and routine. He is crate trained and house trained. Bryan will get the furniture nibbles if bored so we recommend crating when not home.

Bryan loves his yard and playing ball! He definitely needs a fence and someone with a good arm! Bryan would thrive with enrichment toys and things that challenge him. He is a smart guy! Bryan might like a playful friend, he has been living as an only, but we think would do well with another dog and might help his confidence.

We want to make Bryan’s transition a smooth one. We will continue to support him while he settles in - with the help our amazing trainer, Joanne Soyke, at Fur Better Fur Worse Dog Training.

Bryan is neutered, current on vaccines and prevention, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $300. If interested in meeting Bryan, please submit an application at www.k9kindnessrescue.org/adopt

Matilda, Meadow & Wishbone (Lenni’s puppies) are looking for their forever homes. These puppies are happy, playful, outgoing, and a complete joy! They love to run around and play and then snuggle up on a cozy blanket or lap. Like all puppies, they would benefit from positive reinforcement training and continued socialization. They are social butterflies currently. They have been to senior living facilities and on puppy play dates.

If interested in adopting one of these cuties, please submit an application at www.k9kindnessrescue.org/adopt

Last weekend we were part of a local rescue mission with Fur Fun. We picked up mama Luna (silver Labrador) and her 8 puppies in Davenport. We had a foster for 2 puppies (Addison & Meredith) and we transported mama Luna and 5 puppies to their Fur Fun foster home. Dad is a standard poodle. We paid to neuter him on Tuesday and the family is keeping him. No more puppies for these guys!

Meredith and Addison had a spa day, were vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. They will visit our vet and be available for adoption soon. They are 9 weeks old and currently weigh 6 # and 7 #. They are smart, sweet girls and LOVE attention. They are darling with chocolate/reddish coats and green eyes! These puppies will be large and energetic when full grown. They will need regular grooming.

If interested in meeting one of them, please submit an application www.k9kindnessrescue.org/adopt

Anyone looking for Aussie/Poodle mix (aka Aussiedoodle or Aussiepoo) puppies with the best hairdos in town?!?

These puppies are little wiggle worms and we can’t get great photos, but man are they stinking cute! They LOVE people! Venus is still available also. Will add her photo when we get some.

They are around 4 months old and weigh 6-10 #. Much smaller than you realize when you meet these fluffy little nuggets in person🩷🐾

Yesterday we picked up Mirabel from our friends at the Humane Society of Scott County. She was another stray in our community in terrible condition. While we try hard not to judge, it is disheartening to see local animals that appear so neglected.

Mirabel was frightened in the shelter environment and wasn’t eating. She couldn’t see through her overgrown hair, but that wasn’t even her biggest problem. Her eyes were matted shut. She was full of painful mats and the hair on her feet are discolored from urine staining. The Humane Society did their best to trim her hair and started medication. Wherever she was before she escaped, we think she was standing in her own excrement pretty regularly to have the hair on her feet stained brownish yellow.

Mirabel is underweight and only weighs 3.8 # currently. She has an upper respiratory infection and an ulcer on her eye. We will get her all fixed up and back to a healthy weight. She is not available for adoption at this time.

Welcome to the family, Mirabel! We love you already!!

Sad day. Walker did not receive the news we had hoped for at ISU.

Walker’s heart is too malformed that there is nothing they can do to fix it. He will be medically, and potentially, surgically managed. He is too little for any surgical options at this time. Surgery will not correct his heart issues, but could potentially prolong his life if he is a candidate.

Walker has multiple heart defects and categorized together they called it Tetralogy of Fallot. He has a hole in his heart, stenosis/obstruction of his pulmonary artery, backflow of blood on both sides of his heart, which could result in blood accumulation in his lungs. His aorta is also aligned incorrectly and is over both ventricles. In short, it would be easier to describe what is working correctly.

The good news is, other than activity intolerance, Walker is not experiencing pain and he is not in heart failure. He has been started on a medication to slow his heartbeat. He will be monitored closely and we will check his resting respiratory rate to watch for signs of heart failure. If his condition stabilizes, in 4-6 months he will go back to ISU for repeat testing and he will be assessed for surgical procedures to close the hole in his heart and to clear the obstruction.

Walker will be a forever foster with the rescue. We have started a bucket list for him and he had one lick of vanilla ice cream tonight. He will spend his days being loved, snuggled and living each day to the fullest!

Help us with some ideas for Walker.
If you were a puppy, what would you want on your bucket list?

His bill was $805 today. Below are the donations links if you are interested in contributing to Walker’s care.

Little Walker (one of Lenni’s puppies) received some unfortunate news at his puppy visit this week. He has a grade 4 heart murmur and his heart is enlarged ❤️‍🩹.

Walker will visit Iowa State University Hixson-Lied Small Animal Hospital tomorrow. We are very fortunate and received a cancellation call and are able to take him tomorrow instead of July 30th. We hope our luck continues and his heart condition is something that can be surgically corrected or at least medically managed 🤞🏻🙏.

He is a tiny little muffin and only weighs 2.3 #. Despite being a little quieter than his siblings, tiring more quickly, and breathing a little heavier, Walker has no idea he is dealing with a serious medical issue. He hops around and plays with toys like the rest of his littermates.

We will provide updates as we learn more about this sweet little pup.

Mae Mae is still looking for her forever home. This girl has really blossomed with her foster. She’s a 2 year old Pitty mixed with Weimaraner, according to her DNA test.

Mae Mae is good with people, dogs and loves her foster’s 4 year old grandsons. We have not had her around cats since coming into rescue.

She has medium energy level and is happy to play and then loaf on the couch. Mae Mae’s ideal home will have another playmate and be willing to provide numerous squeaker toys for for her to play with and then completely annihilate.

Mae Mae had a rough start in life. Her medical issues are now behind her, leaving only a few scars on the outside. There isn’t anyone who has met her that hasn’t fallen for her beautifully radiant little soul.

Mae Mae is spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots and prevention. She has also had a dental. Mae’s adoption fee is $250. To meet her, please submit an application at www.k9kindnessrescue.org/adopt. As a reminder, we are not a shelter location and require a scheduled meet and greet.

Adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad Cities. All pets currently in the home must be routinely kept up to date on shots, prevention and fixed to be approved for adoption.
