Congratulations to the Bemis Family on the purchase of Bunny !

We are so excited for Will & Aubrey. The amount of growth that happens in a person from
owning a horse is exponential.

Congratulations you two ! You have a great mare to learn from !

To all the Bunny lovers, she is staying at Runaway Ranch 🎉

A small stab in the heart is what you feel when you put up the day's riding list and you see riders sinking heavily in their shoulders when reading which horse they are assigned for the lesson. A small stab in the heart for that horse that for an hour will carry around a rider who has already decided that he does not like his horse. A small stab in the heart for the horse that did not choose the rider himself but still does his best, lesson after lesson.

Riding is a privilege and something you have chosen to do. If you chose to ride at a riding school, your instructor assumes that you actually want to learn how to ride. The instructor's highest wish is that you get good at it.

Often there is a plan and a thought as to why you are assigned to that exact horse. Before you mount up next time, ask yourself "what can this horse teach me today?" All horses have something to give, a feeling or a new tool in the box.

The art is actually in being able to get a lazy horse to move forward, to get an uncertain horse to gain confidence, a naughty horse to focus or a tense horse to be released. It takes work. If you think a horse is boring, it's more likely that you don't ride the horse as well as you think! It's not easy to be confronted with your own shortcomings, but it is in that very situation that you get the chance to truly grow as a rider.

The excuse that "it's not my kind of horse" is actually a really bad excuse. A good rider can ride any kind of horse. A good rider has trained many hours on different types of horses to become a good rider. A good rider can find and manage the gold nuggets in every horse.

If we absolutely want to ride, it is our duty to strive to do it as best as possible, even if it's only for fun. We owe it to every horse that carries us upon it's back.

Copied and shared with love for all of our horses, ponies and riders 🐎❤🐎

🎉🎉EXCITING NEWS 🎉🎉

Lacey is having another BABY!!!

She is due June 21st of next year

She just checked in foal this morning to Snipers Smoking Gun ( Dylans Dad & Carti’s Grandpa )

Shes been an amazing momma, so patient with all of us and great with Charlie.

When we did the initial ultrasound last week, she was pregnant with twins. With horses twins normally don’t make it. Lacey took care of it and resorbed the weakest one. Left us with a healty strong embryo.

Thank you Mary Lindahl McKay for your help in getting her bred

Thank you Heath Jones for encouraging us to go for it this summer. After how hard things were with Charlie’s birth Ryan and I were planning to just wait to breed her next spring. A mare will start cycling 12 days after giving birth also known as their “ foal heat”. Ryan and I were not mentally ready to think about breeding 12 days after Charlie.

We spoke with Heath end of June and he encouraged us to try once this summer and if it didnt work we would try in the spring.

So here we are 🥰

We had an incredible start to our rodeo season this weekend! 🎉 Our workshops kicked off with fantastic learning experiences, including mastering our cowboy flag classes and diving into the exciting world of “Round 'Em Up.”

The fun and growth that took place was great to see, but what truly made this weekend special was our amazing community. Riding under the night sky, surrounded by a great group of people who share a passion for horses, created an unforgettable atmosphere.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—we’re looking forward to more great times ahead! 🤠

Its so true. So often we put expectations on ourselves to master the material we JUST learned that day. Most often its not the case. We need time for that seed to grow and more time spent soaking in the material that we just learned before it becomes fruitful.

This why becoming a great rider truly takes a life time and many many hours spent in the saddle.

There are no shortcuts.

♥️

What a fun night with this group. We dove deep into herd behavior, watched, studied the herd then took that information and put it to work learning how to catch horse in the herd, and learning how to keep yourself safe in that environment

Great workshop with good company.

Charlie got adjusted today, she did great and is looking really good.

Dr. Heather has been seeing her since birth. Heather was part of the village that helped keep Charlie alive. She was out here adjusting and doing muscle work trying help activate her muscles to work and start firing.

We are so thankful for the team of dr.’s that have worked along side us through this journey.

It takes a village and we have a great one !

We have had a few students get a Bob Marshall this past month.

Here is Patty on Dante in her New Saddle & Pad. Breakin it in. Bet you cant guess her favorite color 🫠

When Charlie first had her halter put on she was definitely unsure about having something around her nose, even before buckling it over the top of her head we did some little pressure release sessions with it to gain her confidence.

Over the past few days we have been working on giving her feet to the left, right, forward and back.

Shes getting the hang of it. Shes smart. Shes also learning she cant leave when she wants to 😂 which is a new feeling for her.

Good job, Charlie Girl

Runaway Ranch got new kittens to add to our rodent patrol team 👏

Ironically Ryan and I came home with Snoopy (white and grey) and Snickers ( black and grey) on friday. That evening Ryan noticed a stray momma Kitty and her kittens following her taking residence in one of our buildings 🤦🏽‍♀️

So we trapped her and her kittens ( the two tabby kittens ) and have started socializing them all and plan to turn them all into Runaway Ranch Barn cats 💘

Momma is enrolled in a trap and release program and waiting for a date for her spay. They said it may be a bit since its kitten season and most places are slammed. So until we get the call, we will take good care of her and keep her fed.

We will also be fixing the kittens. Just waiting to hear back on appointment times for everyone.

So thankful for Dr. Mary McKay and her team. They were out daily the first week of Charlies life.

We couldnt have made it this far with Charlie with out their support and guidance.

Thankful to have access to such great vets.

Dr. McKay & Krissy’s Family go way back.
Dr McKay’s Grandpa was Krissy’s Grandpa’s vet
Her Uncle was the equine vet for Krissy’s dad
And now Dr McKay is our vet.

Keep in it in the family
