PLEASE CHECK GATES AND FENCES

Feb 8, 2022 marks nine years since Quick went missing during Superstorm Nemo.
As the weather forecast is calling for Hazardous conditions on Long Island, I want to remind everyone to check your gates and fences, make sure they are secure in case there are heavy winds.
Have collars and ID tags on your pets, make sure their microchip info is up to date and you have their microchip numbers on hand in the event of an emergency.
There is nothing more frightening for a pet owner than searching for a lost pet.
When the weather gets ugly, please keep Quick's story in your mind and make sure your own babies are safe 💕🐾

The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China.
Their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell.
Now comes the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes.
They regularly cause intestinal blockages and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.
Please be safe with your dogs!

Good information. !!!

Today is in the mid-nineties and this heat is dangerously hot! When the temperature is this high, Bambi and I don't go for long walks. We focus on staying in the shade and I let him sniff around. Since he is almost 12 years old he typically doesn't want to be out very long, so we'll do a short walk in the evening time when it starts to cool down.

It is said search and rescue dogs do get depressed when they find too many dead bodies and not enough living people needing to be rescued.

One way to deal with it is for the dogs to find "live people", who have been planted in the rubble. These successes keep them going.
