Mondays at 5: Advanced beginner/intermediate (youth)
Tuesdays at 630: Introduction to horses/beginner

Private lessons are also available on weekends, with limited availability.

Saturday we had our annual Barn Halloween Party! Pot luck, pumpkin painting, horse costume relay races, horse pool noodle obstacle course and games were some of the fun to be had. We had top 3 prizes for our horses and top 3 prizes for the best dressed none horse costume too. It was a great night. Thank you to everyone able to make it, and see you next year!

The long search is over.. Lesson student Stella found her new partner last evening with the help of Twisted Z. Stella has been taking lessons, moved to leasing a horse, and now was ready for her own. Enter "Chip". He is a young QH gelding that has a puppy dog personality and will teach her the ropes. Watch for them in the WSCA show ring for 2025. We cannot wait to see you grow as a team! Congratulations Stella family ❤️

A small stab in the heart is what you feel when you put up the day's riding list and you see riders sinking heavily in their shoulders when reading which horse they are assigned for the lesson. A small stab in the heart for that horse that for an hour will carry around a rider who has already decided that he does not like his horse. A small stab in the heart for the horse that did not choose the rider himself but still does his best, lesson after lesson.

Riding is a privilege and something you have chosen to do. If you chose to ride at a riding school, your instructor assumes that you actually want to learn how to ride. The instructor's highest wish is that you get good at it.

Often there is a plan and a thought as to why you are assigned to that exact horse. Before you mount up next time, ask yourself "what can this horse teach me today?" All horses have something to give, a feeling or a new tool in the box.

The art is actually in being able to get a lazy horse to move forward, to get an uncertain horse to gain confidence, a naughty horse to focus or a tense horse to be released. It takes work. If you think a horse is boring, it's more likely that you don't ride the horse as well as you think! It's not easy to be confronted with your own shortcomings, but it is in that very situation that you get the chance to truly grow as a rider.

The excuse that "it's not my kind of horse" is actually a really bad excuse. A good rider can ride any kind of horse. A good rider has trained many hours on different types of horses to become a good rider. A good rider can find and manage the gold nuggets in every horse.

If we absolutely want to ride, it is our duty to strive to do it as best as possible, even if it's only for fun. We owe it to every horse that carries us upon it's back.

Congratulations to our boarders and lesson students who participated at the Nicollet County Fair Horse Show today. All had some great rides, personal bests and had fun showing with all but 2 this being their 1st 4H show. Way to go everyone!

Ashlyn and Pip had great rides in the morning pleasure portion, earning many blue ribbons.

Avery and Prince had a great first 4H show with some beautiful rides. They make a great team.

Brinley (not pictured) and her lesson horse Fancy had a good 1st 4H show and learned lots. It was a great learning experience and they had some good rides too.

Ireland and Lacey had some tough luck with knocks but ended the day with a win in barrels and a clean jump run!

Sam and Shiloh had fun showing in a few pleasure classes and the afternoon games. For being away in Colorado all summer and not practicing the patterns again until this week, they did wonderful. The good foundation we put on last winter stuck today. 🥰

Sophie and Mabel also took their first 4H show in stride and gained confidence throughout the day. I'm excited to see them progress next season.

I'm anxiously awaiting for updates on how overall and state fair lineups went 💕❤️

I have had a couple of people ask, and YES, we have 2 confirmed pregnancies for 2024 foals! We are so excited as we haven't had personal foals here at Twisted Z since 2019. As the due dates are fast approaching, I thought it would be fun to have a maternity shoot of the girls. Especially since this is likely Beauty's (the black mare) last foal. So, why not make it memorable? ❤️

Both mares are in foal to A Smooth Dasher by A Smooth Guy, an up and coming young stallion that is showing huge promise in the barrel pen. I have a 2022 gray gelding by Smoothie that is showing a lot of potential, which makes me even more excited for these foals to hit the ground!

"Rewind" - Sunfrosted Ladybug (bay roan) - due April 16, 2024
"Beauty" - Perfect Streak (black) - due June 22, 2024

Please let me know if you are interested in either foal. I only plan to have one keeper this year.
