How hot is TOO hot for dog paws?

Warm days mean hot pavement! Temperatures are already in the 90s- asphalt and sidewalks can reach 130 degrees and higher, causing injury to the pads on your dog's paws. Protect those toe beans! Use the hand test- place your hand on a surface for 10 seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your fur babies! We suggest these tips from pet care experts- try walking during the cooler times of the day, and keep your walks short. Walk your dog on grass instead of sidewalks or pavement. Check out dog booties and vet-approved waxes and balms for walks. Cooling mats are great for post-walk, too! Don't forget to make sure your companions have access to fresh water at all times.
