Exciting things going on around here. Skittle was bred today and should have kids around January 13th! Our tomatoes are doing awesome and I plan to spend a couple days next week canning them. Our first ever batch of honey will be harvested in the next couple of weeks and we will be have some for sale!

Super excited to get our new pullets from Chicken Scratch tomorrow! We are getting a Black Cooper Marans, Welsummer, Lavender Orpington, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, Americauna, and Olive Egger. Pictures to come on Thursday of the newest layers!

Has anyone ever raised any naked neck meat birds? We just ordered 15 Naked Necks and 15 Heritage Whites. They are not pretty, but we are super-excited to see how they measure up to Freedom Rangers and Cornish Xs.

It's going to be an incredibly busy week. We pick up the three goats tomorrow, the next batch of 30 meat birds are being delivered on Thursday, I have to drive to IL to get the new pretty, fancy hens this week from Chicken Scratch, we need to desperately w**d the gardens, and still have tons to plant.

Due to demand, we have decided to start getting our non-GMO chicken feed for our Indianapolis folks. I will be picking up the first load this upcoming Tuesday afternoon. Please respond here by Saturday afternoon if you want any feed. The feed is $16 per 50lb. bag, although I would appreciate an extra couple bucks per order for gas and time (it takes 30 minutes each way to meet him). I would prefer that everyone pick up the feed on Tuesday evening or during the day on Wednesday. I will not be picking up every week and would like to aim for once every 3-4 weeks. He will also have meat bird feed (same feed with fishmeal for added protein) available within the next month.

Again, here is the feed composition: Non-GMO locally grown corn and roasted soybeans, oats, alfalfa meal, fertrell mineral mix, calcium (oregonite), "fast-trac" probiotic.

Having to work every other weekend at the hospital really makes for busy, productive weekends when I am not working. Projects slated for today include finishing the goat stalls, getting into the bee hives for the first time, removing all straw from the garden, and finishing up the last batch of maple syrup! Busy day over here! Pictures to come.

Finished the meat bird coop/tractor today. The coop is 4x8. We attached the tractor (8x8) to the coop so the birds can either be inside or out.
