I think all of us tend to enjoy what we’re learning/doing when we’re having fun right? It’s the same for dogs, “play” is something I utilize heavily with my clients’ and my own dogs to reinforce all the obedience the dogs know. It builds engagement, focus, and the relationship you have with your dog. Gone are the days of long obedience sessions. How much strict obedience do I actually do with my dogs? Rarely any unless I’m teaching something new. If you want to build a strong relationship with your dog where he/she looks for you when you’re out in public and have a strong recall, I encourage you to cut your obedience sessions short and implement “play”!
