Miss Cass and I enjoying this random wonderful day in December with a trail ride and great company!
Thanks for coming Andrea, it was a blast and so relaxing.

Also Miss Cass has her first sponsor! We love when people help out and are so grateful! If you’d be interested in sponsoring some of her stay or some added things she’ll need while she’s here then just let me know.

This mare is a trail boss, and such a fun ride. She’ll make someone a great partner one day. Want that person to be you? Head on over to Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue, INC to check out the adoption process.

Miss Cassia is back with us for a (hopefully) short period. After some evaluation she is available for adoption. Arena or trail work this is your girl. She’s up for just about anything yet green as they come. She’s brave and willing as long as you are. She can get a bit pushy on the ground if her manners aren’t kept in check, however once she settles in and learns your routine she’s golden.

If you are a low level amateur or inexperienced with green horses I highly recommend a trainer. She is one that an amateur can bring along with the right guidance. Not a mean bone in her body. I’d suggest her for an advanced youth even. She has the ranchy look and would go great that way if you wanted to do that, or she could be an awesome little trail horse. She is tender on gravel so she could need shoes if you’re riding on gravel a ton. Other than that her feet are in great shape and solid.

She came back with a couple low level anxieties that once she realized I wasn’t rushing her pretty much resolved themselves. I’ll continue riding her, making her more supple and getting her as much exposure as she can.

If anyone needs a sweet girl for the holidays this is the one for you. We’d love for you to come try her out and see if you’re a fit! Contact me or Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue, INC for the process on getting approved to adopt this gal.

Happy Thanksgiving from us to you! 🥧🦃🍁

Forever grateful for this little business of mine to have introduced so many of you into our lives. So thank you, and know the horses enjoyed a little extra treat in their breakfast this morning too 😉.

What more could you love than this?

Miss Cass got all settled into Winfield yesterday, stay tuned for a more in depth post later this morning.

Cassia is a 9 year old quarter horse cross mare that stands about 14.1 hh. This is her third required post but my first. Due to some time constraints the video may be a bit shorter than others. I’ve gotten as much video as I can the last few days but sometimes that’s just the way it is. I have learned a lot about her in a short amount of time.

For example:

🔹She’s a trail machine. No matter the terrain, obstacles or challenge she’s willing and fearless. 🔹She will walk/trot/lope under saddle.
🔹She has some solid groundwork and is almost fool proof at ground tying.
🔹She stands quiet to be tacked up, mounted and tied. (Cross ties or just a single tie)
🔹She loves bathes and does great for fly spray. 🔹She’s soft in the mouth, extremely responsive to leg pressure and is learning to ride off your seat. 🔹Logan proof (iykyk)
🔹Loads, unloads and travels great.
🔹Shes easy to catch in a field, or you can stall her and she won’t make a fuss.
🔹Doesn’t mind the electrolyte tubes so deworming should be easy as well.
🔹Best of all her personality is a doll, she’s incredibly willing to learn or just content to wait around.
🔹She LOVES the scratches after a ride, or anytime really.

Now for all the things potential adopters need to be aware of.

🔸She needs a confident handler and rider. Even though she’s fearless she needs you to lend her your confidence when she questions things. You’re her partner she needs to trust you. Good thing though, if you falter she’s willing to try again for you.
🔸Along with that is she thrives on consistency and good boundaries. If she doesn’t have them she’ll likely try to make up her own, and that’s usually never a good thing with smart horses.
🔸She is still green when it comes to contact with the bit and loping. Shes figuring it out, but just needs lots of time with it.
🔸She can get a tad anxious or buddy sour when she’s tied if her friend walks past. She doesn’t do anything super obnoxious except move a few steps and paw. This isn’t bad but it is something to be aware of so it won’t become a thing in the future. 🔸She will paw if she gets overstimulated, that’s her big cue that things have gone a little too far, listen to her and she’ll come right back down for you.
🔸This mare has a story, and by looking at her you can just imagine what that is. She’s lived a life and not an easy one. It’s just further testament to the temperament of this mare. After everything she is still so very willing to trust and love people.

This mare deserves a home, and someone(s) to love her. She’s great with kids, but isn’t a kid horse (yet). In the little time she’s been with me she’s nestled her way into the soft spot of my heart. I’ll offer a discount on training if her future adopter wants to leave her with me.

I want to extend my thanks and gratitude to Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue, INC and Appalachian Trainer Face Off for allowing me to step in at the last leg of this mares journey. Also a huge thanks to Colby O’Connor for putting the phenomenal start on this mare. She wouldn’t have had near as bright as a future if she hadn’t had a wonderful start. It just goes to show what the resilience of these animals and the patience of a trainer can truly accomplish. Thank you to everyone for following us and supporting us in this journey.

Much love,
💕

Thanks Kelsie Kessick for coming up and going on a simple trail ride with Cassia and I 😉

No it wasn’t simple and I may have traumatized her but Cassia proved to be a little mountain goat. She’s a rockstar out on the trail and loved it.

We’re still working on some arena work and I’ll have the last required post up later today/tonight. With about a week left before the competition we have a lot to accomplish, but she’ll be a champ no matter what.

My PayPal and Venmo are both if anyone would like to contribute towards her cost of being here and then getting to the ATFO next week.

Thanks everyone, much love 💕

Let’s welcome…. !!

Cassia is an approximately 9 year old quarter horse cross mare. We will be competing in the diamond division for the ATFO. Usually you have 100 or so days, but Cassia started out with a different trainer that had to drop out due to an injury. Colby O’Connor of Circle C Equine had started Cassia, and she did a phenomenal job. This mare is relaxed, soft in the face, willing, confident and trusting in people. I just hope in the next 10 ish days that I can show her to the best of her ability.

We already started on a trail ride with some arena work. Unfortunately it was towards the end of the day and my phone was dying. She’s not startled by much and has a great foundation on her. What I’m hoping to accomplish is expose her to as many things as I’m able to here, and continuing to work on the basics and tune those up where needed.

I couldn’t say no, and now I know why. This mare will make someone a NICE horse. Just a little ole red mare hit my soft spot, and if you know me you know why.

With this being in a time crunch we will be looking for sponsors for the last little bit. Board and training costs, feed/hay/supplements, fly spray and all the things to make her look and feel the best. I can get a specific list together or feel free to message me. Also costs of traveling back and forth to Winfield for the event. Thankfully I’m local so it won’t be as much as some. Donations can be tax deductible but will need to go through Heart Of Phoenix first.

Hope to see you all in a couple weeks and see all the other great horses and competitors. I’ll share a link below for all the info, and sponsorship/volunteer opportunities.

All the info you’ll need:

Thanks guys and even if you can’t donate or become a sponsor that’s okay! Everything she needs will be covered, it would just be a bit easier on my end is all. As long as we have your support we will be thrilled!!

Don’t forget to apply to adopt this gal! More detailed post about her will be coming in the next few days!
