BIG UPDATE: Ridgerunner Outfitters is under new ownership! Meet the new outfitter, Drew Schaad. After a few years of guiding, he took a job with Ridgerunner, and within the first couple weeks of guiding elk hunts he knew he found something special. He was amazed with the abundance of elk he came across. He also noted the frequent moose encounters, lack of wolves, and stunning scenery. It far surpassed his expectations, and when the opportunity came to make it his own, he knew he would have a hard time finding a better place to call home.

Young and full of energy, he's eager to take you on your next mountain adventure. Let his experience in both hunting and horsemanship work for you. He's currently replacing old equipment, increasing his herd with young reliable horses and mules, and exploring the areas that have been overlooked or forgotten. He plans to expand his bear hunts by utilizing more of his area, and he's trying to line up a winter full of cougar hunts after noticing a sharp rise in numbers. We're expecting some big changes, and we hope you'll join us in continuing the Ridgerunner legacy.

It’s been a good week! 4 hunters left with 4 bears, the weather was beautiful, and the camp was full of jokes and stories. There’s one more month of bear season and we still have some openings, and there’s plenty more bears!

Idaho is notorious for color phase bears, just look through our photos! We see a lot of chocolates, cinnamons, and even the occasional blonde bear.

Michael went with us on his first elk hunt this past September. He heard bugles in all directions when he tagged this nice bull on his first day. Talk about a thrilling initiation!
